USUALLY IN NEW York, I enjoyed a London Fog in my mansion, house overlooking our lake. The cafe here, though, dimly lit with booths in the corner, tried to imitate a luxurious restaurant vibe where they lit candles.
As we both got off of his car, the gravel under me crunched, and I shoved Andrew towards the entrance as retaliation from last time. Sure, it may have been ungraceful of me, and childish—no doubt about that—but at least I didn't stumble like an idiot.
"Aigoo, our favorite customers finally came!" A lady greeted us in accordance to the chiming of the bell attached to the door as we walked in. She led us to the table beside the counting, motioning for us to sit. "Anja, anja!"
Sitting on opposite sides in of the table, Andrew situated himself like he lived here, immediately taking out his computer, notebook, pencil case, and plugging his MacBook in. He placed his computer in the middle while I stared at him, breaking out into a sheepish smile. From across the room in the other corner, two children, both a girl and a guy, sat together in a separate booths. No Mom in sight. Did she leave them behind? They couldn't be older than ten. A shudder ran down my spine at how the guy glared at me.
Whatever. My fault for being nosy, anyways.
"The usual?" A girl called over the counter. I scanned the menu behind her, little drawings of drinks next to the category section. Stopping when I got to the tea section, I cut Andrew off before he confirmed our orders.
"Actually, can we have grapefruit tea and a London Fog?"
The girl paused at my words. What? I'm pretty sure I spoke Korean, unless I became multilingual without knowing it.
"Coming right up," she replied after a moment. Satisfied, I sat down. Andrew raised an eyebrow at me.
"Is the grapefruit tea yours?"
"No, it's yours." Hand cradling my chin, I gave him the same smug look he gave me earlier. "I heard it's refreshing with a lovely fragrance."
Though Andrew didn't hate refreshing drinks, he had a major sweet tooth. That included brown sugar milk tea, chocolate, ice cream, milkshakes, and everything that screamed unhealthy. And ordering him a grapefruit tea was as low as I could go—for now. Besides, a little tea wasn't going to kill him. On top of that, I got a nice London Fog without having to force myself to chug down whatever Lina drank.
"Ijae Sok-i Siwonhanya?" Andrew grumbled. Are you satisfied now?
"Far from it, actually." I replied, the corners of my lips curling upwards.
"Ja, yeogiyo," the same waitress arrived with our beverages, holding the grapefruit tea up in questioning. Andrew pointed to himself, face contorted. I wished I could take a picture of the face he made, seeing how much he attempted not to offend the worker with his obvious distaste for the tea. On the other hand, my drink had a perfect layer of foam at the top. Something I refused to not enjoy, even with my glasses fogging up.
