Venice eventually gets off the phone with Trinity as we pull up at the house."I want more ice cream." She says, walking to the door.
I smile as I follow behind her.
This day really has been the best day of my life.
And now I'm finna be a dad too!
We step into the house and I walk to the kitchen after her. She washes her bowl and refills it.
"You ain't wanna eat something proper?" I walk past her to the fridge.
"Like what?" She takes another scoop.
"Whatchu feeling?" I drop my things on the table beside her.
"Hmm... I really want McDonald breakfast." She says.
"You know we can't get that at this time mama."
"Yeah, I'll get it tomorrow morning."
"Speaking of tomorrow morning, we go McDonald's first then head over to your place to get your car, the rest of your things and we gotta tell your landlord that you moving out." I explain.
"Yeah, okay."
"So what you want now?" I ask her.
"Mac and cheese."
"No problem."
I get started cooking up the food and Venice watches me as I move around the kitchen, opening draws and cupboards.
"I'm excited." She tells me and I turn from the stove. "I'm really gone be a mom!" She smiles, biting her lip.
"Wasn't you the same person who was 'boutta faint in the doctors office?" I tease her.
"Hush. It was the hormones." She tells me.
I laugh and walk over, giving her a kiss.
"I'm excited too." I look down at her and smile.
Almost an hour later, the food is ready. I take it out of the oven and place it on the table, grabbing two plates.
"You want a lot?" I ask, glancing backwards.
"Yes please."
I scoop the food onto her plate, push a fork in and drop it in front of her.
"Thank you baby." She says as she starts eating.
I scoop mine and lean against the counter as I eat.
"Damn, you a whole ass chef." She compliments. "This is bomb."
"Thank you, my dad taught me to cook." I tell her.
"Really?"
"Yeah, when I was 10, it's kinda like a hobby now. I just love doing it for fun."
"Guess imma be eating good in these nine months."
