I Still Love You- Ruby Lane

Y/n was Ruby Lane's girlfriend back in 1978 before hell broke loose. It is now 1994, y/n looks the same as she did in 1978 due to something that happened in the past. Thinking that her girlfriend died all those years back what happens when she sees her but not as she would expect to?

Y/n POV

"Hey Ms. Lane." I say smiling as she opened her door.

"Hello dear." She says hugging me letting me come in.

"Do you have a list made already?" I ask. In the 1970s, Ruby's mom loved me. She knew about her daughter and I's relationship and loved that Ruby had found love in someone even if it was a female. We've stayed close ever since. Since she's getting old, every week I come over and I do her grocery shopping then she makes dinner for us or something.

She hands me over a piece of paper that has her list on it. "When you get back, how about we make some cookies? You can bring some home." She says.

"I think that's a great idea." I say smiling, standing up about to walk to the door.

Ms. Lane grabs my arm making me stop, "Be careful dear." She says serious.

"I always am." I say with a smile.

I walk out of her house making sure to lock her door on the way out and get in my car. As I'm getting close to the store, I see on a side road some kid on the ground with a girl on him. Wait... is that a knife?

I turn the car around and slowly pull up to them. I get out quietly and tackle the unknown girl to the ground, the boy screams. The girl flips us over and is now on top of me. I see her face for the first time and freeze as I stop fighting back. Ruby. There's no way... there's no fucking way. I try slapping myself awake. This is real. How?

"Ruby?" I say. I realize that she's just staring at me now. She has the same look in her eyes that she looked at me with. That quickly changed when she pulled the knife back about to stab me. Before it could stab me she gets shot. "No! I cry. "Baby!" I scream. Some random people drag me away from her. Before we go around a curb I see her get up. That's not possible?

"Where are you guys going? I have a car right there!" I yell making them all turn to me.

I roll my eyes and we run to my car. The boy from earlier gets in my passenger seat as a short dark skinned boy, a curly, brunette haired girl, a blonde girl, and another short brunette girl get into the back. "Where am I going?" I ask to them gripping the steering wheel.

The curly haired girl gives me directions and we soon arrive to I'm guessing her house. We walk in and go in her living room. "Okay who are you people.

"I'm Deena."

"I'm Sam."

"I'm Simon."

"Kate."

"I'm Josh, Deena's brother."

"I'm y/n..." I say.

"So what the fuck happened back there? Why were you calling that chick baby? She was literally trying to kill Simon." Deena says with an attitude.

"Long story. She was my girlfriend back in 1978 but she died. How is she alive?" I say.

Sam gives a look to Deena. I'm sensing something between them.

"Wait, wait, Ruby Lane?" Josh asks.

I nod. "Come with me. Now." He says walking to their basement and we all follow.

We're sitting on the ground around a table. He's pulling out all these newspapers. He starts explaining about all these killers throughout the years including Ruby. He comes to the conclusion that it's because of the curse.

"I have to get her back!" I say with so much anxiety.

"She's dead!" Josh says.

"N-no I have to try! I can't give up on her... I love her!" I say through tears. I walk out of the room to a kitchen. Tears are just falling. After all this time I still love her. I hear footsteps behind me and Sam comes into view and spits out blood in the sink. "You must really love her." She says wiping her mouth.

I wipe my tears and nod. "I've tried years after years to forget her but can't."

"... I love her." Sam says looking down. I look at her confused. She continues, "Deena's my ex. I was in denial and I messed things up."

"She still loves you. I can tell by the way she looks at you. Just communicate with her and hopefully she understands." I say to her patting her back.

A few moments later Deena walks in with a sweater. She gives me a concerned look noticing my tear stained cheeks. I shake it off and look between them awkwardly. "I'm just gonna—" I say motioning towards the room everyone is in and leave.

When I get in there Josh explains to me the only way to get Ruby back. We have to kill her. But not in the way you wouldn't be able to bring her back because we have to kill her to bring her back to life. His plan is to drown her then we do CPR and hope that works. "I'm in. I'll do anything to get her back."

We go to a lake and wait for Ruby. Soon we hear. "You always hurt the one you love." She would always sing that song. It was her favorite. She's about a feet away and when she goes to sling her knife at me I quickly dive and get behind her. We're in the lake and I'm on her back. Despite her strong efforts to stay above the water I dunk her head in. After some time of her struggling she goes limp. I drag her body to the ground. "Help me!" I yell.

I began doing CPR for about five minutes. "She's gone y/n it's not gonna work." Josh says trying to pull me off of her.

"No! No it has to!" I say continuing.

"Ruby fucking Lane! Don't you dare give up! I swear to god." I say.

Soon I just sob. "Y/n?" I hear in a gasp. I look at Ruby and she's looking at me. I sling my arms around her. I can't believe it worked.

"We have so much to talk about." I say in her neck not letting go.

She laughs, "We can do that later."

She lets go and sees my my group of... friends. "Who are these people?" She asks.

"That's Deena, Sam, Kate, Simon, and Josh." I say pointing to them one at a time. "You actually tried to kill Simon."

"It's okay I forgive you." He says.

We smile and get in the car. There wasn't that much room now since Ruby was here also. She sat in the passenger seat obviously and Sam sat on Deena's lap to make room. They obviously made up I think to myself as I see them making out through the rear view mirror. I laugh to myself as I put my hand on Ruby's leg and she grabs my hand holds my it. "I love you." I say.

"I love you more." She says leaning over kissing my cheek.

We soon got to Deena's house. Everyone is staying there. "Are you guys sure you don't want to stay here?" Deena asks at the door.

"Nah, we have somewhere important to be." I say smiling at Ruby.

We arrive at Miss Lane's home. I forgot to go to the grocery store but I think she'll like my surprise better. I knock on her door and Ruby hides behind me. She opens the door. "Hello Sweetie. Where are the groceries?" She asks confused.

"I brought you something better." I say moving out of the way to reveal Ruby.

She lets out a sob mumbling things like "this can't be real." It was really heart touching watching this reunion. I invited myself in and sat on the couch with her dog letting them have their time.

That night we all watched a movie on the couch in front of the tv while Ruby and I cuddled never letting each other go once.
