HURT AND COMFORT
🌦---
Hisoka was completely silent as he sat at the kitchen table, poking at his now cold food with a fork. It wasn't unusual to see the man stuck in his mind like this, but it was becoming so often now that Gon wasn't sure what to do. With all of Hisoka's memories starting to resurface now, it was a lot harder to keep up with his fights and take care of the both of them, so more often than not he only made food for Gon and then cooped himself up in his room all day. The boy was the one who had pulled him out to eat this morning, having made the food himself since he knew how to make a few things due to Aunt Mito's wonderful teaching skills.
"I can.. Make you something else, Hisoka." He said quietly, not receiving a response. He walked a little closer, to wrap his arms around Hisoka's waist- Only to get slapped.
Hisoka faltered a little when he realised what he'd done, standing with wide but tired eyes and stepping back slowly. Gon was surprised yes, but he was sure that the clown was even more. He had a tendency to be patient when things like this happened, so he just sighed and smiled up at the red-head.
"It's okay, Hisoka.. I'm not mad. It didn't hurt.."
"Why don't you sit on the couch, and we can talk for a little while? Don't worry about the food.. I had a feeling you wouldn't eat it so you can heat it up again in the microwave when you're hungry."
He needed to be patient because shouting at Hisoka wouldn't do anything, in fact it'd only make things worse. He'd seen how the man reacted to Illumi shouting at him before and it was.. Well, it made his heart hurt. Because he was a broken toy, and he needed to be handled carefully like one, so that he could be fixed even if some seams and creases remained.
"Why are you.." Hisoka swallowed hard, and the boy just walked up to him slowly, holding his hand gently and bringing him over to the couch. The jester didn't know how else to react, so he just sat down as requested and froze when the boy hugged him again. He didn't snap this time, instead easing against the embrace.
"You've been pretty stressed recently.. I know you didn't mean it."
"I should've warned you beforehand anyways, I'll start doing that alright?"
"Gon.. ♤"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"I am tired.." The clown muttered simply, standing and trudging off back to his room. Gon followed along quickly, luckily there to hold him up when he realised he was starting to fall to the side a little.
"Hisoka.. You really should eat something, or at least drink water. You've been really out of it, and I'm worried."
"I'm sorry.." Hisoka murmured, shuffling towards his bed and laying down. Gon shook his head, placing his hand on the clown's shoulder with care and frowning.
"It's okay, I'm sure you were just overwhelmed."
"I'm a horrible father.. ♤"
"D- Don't say something like that!" Gon yelped, "You're.. You're having a lot of trouble, but I won't leave you to suffer. You're still so kind even if you've gone through so much."
"I hurt you.." Hisoka's breath wavered now, "Why do you trust me?"
The boy went silent, not sure how to reply. There wasn't a reason to trust Hisoka, but he did. His aura was filled with kindness and warmth when he was around him, so he didn't see any danger with trusting him. He decided to switch the subject instead, try and make the clown happy.
"Soka, can you tell me about Bungee Gum?"
Hisoka finally looked up at him with tired but surprised eyes, "You'd listen?"
"Yeah! Tell me about it." Gon smiled, sitting on a chair that was near by.

"And that was when I just about mastered it." Hisoka finished off, the boy now resting peacefully in his arms. He'd shuffled into the man's embrace after he started feeling tired and now he was practically ready to fall asleep. The magician noticed, and he gasped a little as he realised Gon was close to him again, but he didn't bother to pull away or anything, instead holding him a little closer and rocking him back and forth ever so slightly.
"You should rest.. You spent all day trying to care for me. I'll be okay.. ♡"
"...Are you sure..?" Gon whispered, "If you're still on edge.."
"Go, now.. I'll be right here, you'll probably know if something is wrong. I'll eat properly tomorrow, I promise. ♡"
"Okay.. Goodnight, dad."
Hisoka was a little caught off guard by this, but he smiled and chuckled softly, the rumbling beneath his chest hardly disturbing the tired boy and instead making him feel a little better knowing the clown didn't seem as upset anymore.
"Goodnight, Gon.. ♡"
