Twenty-One

Ruby was back home following the hit and run. She had been taking some time off of school and she was loving it.

Esmè had been staying with her as Ruby had a concussion and she couldn't be left alone. Claire smiled. "Okay. Esmè is here now. Darcie too. So I'm off to work. I'll see you later baby."

"Bye mum."

Esmè walked in and smiled. "Hey you. I bought you some stuff for the baby," she said.

Ruby grinned and nodded. Esmè handed her a bag. Ruby saw the pink stuff. "Wow. Es."

Esmè smiled. "It's some of Darcie's stuff from when she was a tiny human. And I bought you some new stuff too. Didn't think you'd want all madams old stuff."

Ruby grinned. "Thanks Esmè. I actually have to make a start on shopping for her. Just as soon as I can get out the house."

"Yeah. You can't go anywhere just yet bubs. I'll take you this weekend if you want to," Esmè said.

Ruby nodded and smiled. She rubbed her baby bump and smiled. "I can't wait to meet her. I never thought I could love someone so much until I found out about my baby."

Esmè nodded. "They change everything. You know that right? It will be hard. And I can't promise that you won't want to give up on being a mummy. But at the end of the day, when you put your little baby to bed, and she smiles you remember why it's worth it."

Ruby smiled. "I know. I see you with Darcie and the bond you both have, and I want that."

"And you will."

Ruby looked up as Simon walked in. She frowned. "What are you doing here?" She asked.

"It's okay. I told Esmè that I was bringing you some work. She's making you some lunch," he said as he sat down. He smiled. "How are you?"

Ruby nodded. "I'm okay. I have to take it easy because of the concussion. But I'm doing okay."

"Good. How's the baby?" Simon asked as he looked at her.

"The baby is okay too. We're both okay."

Esmè walked in. She handed Ruby a plate of food. "Eat up. My little niece needs food."

"I should go. Good to see you Ruby. Take care," Simon said as he walked off.

Ruby knew she wanted to be with Simon. But it was too risky. Especially when she was under lock and key.

Ruby was lying in bed. She got a text from Simon;

I'm outside. Can you sneak me in? - Simon x

Ruby climbed out of bed. She opened the window and saw him. She smiled. "I'll let you in. You have to be quiet cause my sister is awake with Darcie."

Ruby snuck Simon in. She took him up to her room. She looked to him. "Do you know how dangerous this is? Anyone could walk in."

"I know. But I had to see you. I had to make sure that you and our baby is okay. I care about you both," Simon said.

Ruby looked to him and smiled. But with their relationship being so forbidden, could they ever become more than a forbidden fling.
