Chapter 9

"I don't wanna go!" Lucas cried as they entered him in the ambulance and I was worriedly holding my hands together. They're taking him to the hospital for better medication.

He's fine now and out of danger, but we needed to make sure and the hospital is the best place for that though he seems to hate it.

Lucas has been begging us not to bring him there because he doesn't like the place for some reason but we can't do anything, it's for his own safety.

"I wonder if he'll be fine." Tania looked up at me.

"Of course! We are talking about Lucas. He'll be fine." She bragged and I smiled down at her. Loves how proud she is to her best friend. "I just hope he won't think too much about the horror stories I told him. I better go now." My smile fell as I watched her evil grin while walking back to the mansion.

So it's her fault.

"Poor Lucas." Mrs. Maddison said as we watched the ambulance disappear in our sight. "I never thought Hhans would lose control like that..." She shook her head in disappointment to her grandson. "Those two never get along since they're kids and I don't even know why..." I smiled sadly at her.

Hhans was taken away for punishment and I don't know where he is but Mrs. Maddison said that he's fine and besides he deserved it...

He almost killed Lucas.

"Let's go inside, Ms. Maddison." I squeezed her shoulder before leading her inside the mansion when my phone suddenly rang.

I stopped on my track and looked at the caller's name but it's unidentified. Who? I stared at it confused before answering it.

"...Hello?" I asked but no one answered. "Hello?" I repeated but again no response.

Is this a prank?

"Umm..." My eyes widened when I heard his voice. "Hi it's me... Niel." My breath hitched as my eyes widened in disbelief.

Niel called me? I saw his missed calls when I was in the hospital but I forgot to call back since I was busy with avoiding Monster Liam.

Just from his voice, all my hatred and worries washed up.

"Hi." I managed as I held the phone closer to my ears. Guess he did find a way to contact me after being ignored. "It's been a long time."

"Yeah."

Long silence. I felt so happy but I should be mad right? I can feel my heart jumping for joy and my wolf howling in happiness and I can't do a thing.

I stood there waiting for Niel to say another word with a wide smile on my face. This felt so nice... that made me hate it.

"Why'd you call?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Umm...I just wanted to, you see I'm about to spend two weeks without you. It's a new record." He chuckled and I smiled a bit, remembering how it used to be...

If we weren't mates then maybe until now...

"We should throw a party then." He chuckled more and I missed that. I miss it badly.

"Yeah, that's gonna be cool! I'll wait then but three months is really long don't you think?" I stiffened.

"You mean one year, don't yha?" I raised a brow at the ground.

"What?"

"I'll stay here in Alberta for a year, remember?"

There goes another silence and I somehow remembered what Michell said before...

'Maybe he doesn't know where you are?'

"What do you mean a year in Alberta? Isn't that located in Canada?!" He asked in disbelief. "Wait, are you there all this time?!" He asked worriedly and half of me melted in relief.
