SHE

got out of bed, putting on the hood to her hoodie before slowly walking through the hospital. she wore her mask, walking down the steps until getting to a corner; the front door in plain sight.

she peaked around, looking towards the receptionist desk to see her usual nurse- emi, talking to a boy about her age.

sighing in relief, she quickly walked past. she got two steps away from the door before-

"yua." emi called out. "where are you going?"

the small girl took in a deep breath, turning around to face the pale nurse. her hand laid on her hip, a stern expression plastered on her face, and her foot tapping the ground impatiently.

"i'm going out, what else?" yua scoffed. "i'm tired of this hospital, i get to do nothing but lay in my room all day!"

"you can go out when you're better." emi stated, looking back at the boy. his blue eyes flickered from the desk to the girl who was huffing.

"i've been here for 5 months, emi. face facts, i'll never get better!" yua pouted. "i just wanna see the outside one more time before i die."

"stop talking like that." yua sighed, shaking her head softly. "you'll be better in no time."

"you always say that." yua mumbled, sticking her pockets in her hands and walking off.

yua sighed as she went back up the stairs before stopping at a vending machine. one soda won't kill her, right?

she rolled her brown eyes, taking small sips of the soda and holding her mask below her chin.

"yo." the small boy stated when he saw her figure. yua sighed, putting her mask up quickly and looking over at him.

"yo?" she scoffed, eyeing him suspiciously as he walked closer. "5 feet."

"ah, my bad." he hummed. "i couldn't help but overhear.. 5 months?" he asked, squinting his eyes at the girl.

"yua, soda?" emi sighed, watching the girl throw away her can before shrugging. "just.. go take your medicine." emi hummed, going into another patient's room.

"follow me if you wanna know." yua laughed, making her way into her room with the boy.

she quickly took her medicine, stripping of the dreaded mask & pulling down her hood to show case her disheveled black hair.

"alright!" she hummed before coughing into her arm.

"i have some wretched disease. not sure what's it called, don't really care either. starts as a fever ends up in death. no cure but they give me medicine to slow it down." she shrugs nonchalantly.

"oh, sorry to hear that?" killua states, confused if he should feel bad or not. "what're some more symptoms?"

"cough, headaches, night sweats, hallucinations, rashes. my knee hurts sometimes too, but that's just from falling down the stairs my first night here." she chuckled. "what about you kid?"

"uh? i'm just here to visit one of my friends actually- he's sick." he stated. "my names killua."

"oh! i'm sorry. i'm yua." she smiled, softly humming to the male who nodded.

"you may know him, actually. he's on this floor. gon freecss." he hummed, shifting around in the chair beside her bed.

"OH GON? yes! he's so nice, carefree, energetic. hard to believe he's actually sick." yua chuckled, cross crossing her legs as she sat on the bed. "tell him i said hi when you go see him."

"yeah, of course." killua hummed slowly, nodding his head. "i'll see you later, yua." he smiled softly, before taking his leave.

later.
