KILLUA

sneezed shortly into his sleeve, his cheeks tint with a red hue that he frequently blamed on the cold and changing weather.

he looked over at yua who let out a small 'bless you' before looking at him with a concerned gaze.

"are you okay, killua?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at the pale boy in front of her who hummed and nodded.

"i'm great!" he laughed, shifting his gaze from the girl to the window. he paused everything since he didn't even realize it but it was snowing. on valentine's day.

kind of romantic in a way.

"look outside." he whispered softly to the sick girl who followed directions. she beamed at the sight of the white snow blanketing the ground below before hoping out of bed and towards the window.

she couldn't believe she was able to see snow fall once more. never in a million years would she had expected it to snow again while she was still breathing.

"it's so pretty! let's go outside!" she chuckled, turning around quickly only to be met with an empty room. she looked around frantically; not realizing her symptoms had gotten worse.

the hallucination of an empty hospital room drove her insane. if she had to rank all her hallucinations from worse to slightly decent; this would be hell.

she could feel tears welling up in her eyes as she slid down the wall behind her, muttering to herself over and over about how she was alone.

"yua? hey yua! i'm right here!"

she started to even doubt killua's existence. was he the hallucination? did emi play along to make her happy? was emi herself a hallucination?

soon enough she was snapped back into reality by the calming circles being drawn in her back with a back scratcher.

she looked slightly to the left to see emi giving her a look of pity. she hated that look. she hated being pitied or judged.

pushing it aside she looked and saw a concerned killua who struggled to catch his breath. she exhaled a breath she didn't realize she was holding before wiping her tears and hitting her face two times to make sure she was okay.

"let's go!" she hummed brightly, trying to push the episode to the back of her mind before skipping her way outside.

when the two teens got outside- standing 5 feet apart per usual, the girl took down her mask. she caught snowflakes on her tongue, smiling at the nostalgic feeling as killua watched her.

he looked down to examine her physical appearance; noticing she'd lost a lot of weight. her natural color was fading from her face as well as dark eye bags starting to grow prominently under her brown eyes.

"hey, how's your condition going?" he hesitantly asked. she knew she couldn't lie since it was physically obvious she wasn't getting better, yet she still put on a smile when facing the white haired boy.

"worse; i cant eat anything without it coming back up!" she chuckled. "and emi won't leave the room until she's seen me swallow my medicine now so." she shrugged, before turning to look up into the cold sky.

he sighs, noticing her attitude towards death has never changed. she wasn't scared of it, she faced the music that she'd die as soon as she was emitted into the hospital.

she didn't care anymore though. she had no family, no friends; just emi and killua. a bitter chuckle left her lips at the thought of only two people attending her funeral before she looked over at the male.

"we should get in, yeah? we don't want you catching a cold." he half-joked, turning to go into the warm hospital after she sent him a brief nod.

she had a terrible gut feeling ; and so did he.
