years passed and unfortunately, there were no more visits from killua. yua started to panic but would calm down quickly thinking of different options than the one she secretly knew was true.

she'd just hoped he had heard her that day.

though yua was still sick, she was still strong enough to hold complete conversations with coherent sentences. she could also keep her food down, however she couldn't walk and was still on a heart monitor.

"medicine!" emi sang, walking into the girls room. yua had cut her bangs again once more, like when she was a kid to feel the nostalgic feeling.

she looked over at the jacket that was aimlessly laying in the corner of her hospital room on a chair before she turned to emi to take her medicine.

"do you remember killua?" she asked softly, swallowing the pill before continuing. "it's been such a long time since he's come to visit, i hope he's okay." she sighed, her voice breaking at the thought.

emi bit her cheek again, letting her bleach blonde hair fall in front of her face as she contemplated on telling yua. her eyes flickered from her patients face to the ring that was never taken off of her finger.

"yua, remember how sick killua was that day?" emi started while yua nodded her head slowly- praying this conversation wouldn't go where she thought it would go.

"you know, you're my favorite patient- and i love you." she added quickly before tearing up a little. "but, we ran some tests on him; asked a few questions and he had your disease. since he hadn't been taken the antibiotics like you do, it spread pretty fast and caused him to die that night."

her voice shook while she spoke, obviously holding back the tears that threatened to spill over while she delivered the news to her favorite kid.

yua simply nodded, politely asking to be left alone while emi nodded and agreed. she let out a shaky sigh before taking off her mask, small tears falling down her pale, discolored face before she laid on her side and watched the snow fall.

she made up her mind. she hated being alone. and alone she would not be. for 10 days, every pill emi brought her was collected into a small cup she had saved on the side of her bed.

on the eighth day, she asked emi to hand her killua's jacket. emi obviously agreed, giving in and letting the smaller girl grieve to her liking.

it still had a faint, lingering scent of his cologne that yet brought back every happy memory of them - from meeting by the vending machine and watching her favorite movie to watching leaves fall and catching snowflakes on their tongues.

she faintly sighed, asking emi for an extra cup of water because she was "thirsty." emi agreed, of course, bringing her some more while yua fiddled with the heart pendant on her necklace.

she gave emi a sweet smile yet her eyes looked dead; no life present in them anywhere. she was tired of the back and forth game she played with the grim reaper, continuously getting sicker just to get better when death was a step away.

"thank you, emi. i really do love you." she stated, chuckling shortly while emi shook her head.

"don't say it like that kid, you sound like you're about to die on me!" emi stated, half joking before leaving yua alone.

yua hummed a sweet tune to herself that she'd heard in her favorite movie. taking the pills she'd been saving, she threw them in her mouth followed by the water before swallowing hard.

she laid down, continuing to hum the tune before looking out the window to watch the snow fall from the starry night.

closing her eyes with a sweet smile- a peaceful and happy smile, she was finally at rest.

the last sounds she heard being emi yelling for more nurses and the last flatlined beep of her heart monitor.
