December 2012

Brantley's POV:
Things had been hectic to say the least around the house the past few months. Between decorating Colton's room and trying to manage the farm, I had been stretched thin. Luckily, Chase and Brinleigh had been around to help. They had surprised us by telling us that they had brought the property that butted up to mine. Bailey and I had agreed that while their house was being built, they could live with us. I mean, I had the room. Plus, having Daniel and Brody around gave me some practice on taking care of a baby. Even if they were almost a year old.
Sitting in front of the fireplace looking at the Christmas tree, I thought about how much my life has changed in such a short amount of time. I had the best friends a guy could ask for, a girl that loved me for who I am and didn't try to change me, and in two short weeks I would meet my son. We had wrapped the tour for the year back in October and had been in Maysville ever since. Bailey was living with me full time and while we hadn't talked about marriage, I knew that was the ultimate goal for us both. I really couldn't picture doing life with anyone but her. I'd already brought a ring, I just haven't found the best time to ask her yet.

"Couldn't sleep?" I heard from behind me. Looking up, I saw Chase walking into the living room, taking a seat on the sofa.

"No. You?" I asked.

"Daniel needed changing. Then Brody wanted a bottle." said Chase as he stretched out on the sofa, propping his feet on the end.

"I thought I heard one of them crying earlier." I replied.

"Yeah." said Chase. "So, what's got your brain in overdrive?"

"Bailey." I said with a sigh. That was the bad thing about having your best friend and tour mate living with you. They always knew when something was bothering you, even when you tried to hide it.

"What about Bailey?" asked Chase.

"Well, I brought her a ring while we were in Vegas. I just haven't found the right time to ask her to be my wife." I said.

"Well, tomorrow is Christmas Eve, why not do it then?" he said, sitting up and looking over at me. "You know just as well as I do that Bailey is going to say yes. That woman practically worships the ground you walk on B."

"I know. But I want this to be the last time I ever ask someone to marry me. I want it to be perfect. Not only for me, but for her." I said, taking another sip of my coffee.

"Well, don't do what I did with Brin. She almost took my head off." he said smiling. I remembered him telling me about how he had just slipped the ring on her finger while she had been sleeping and the freakout that she'd had upon seeing it.

"Yeah, you don't have to worry about that man." I said laughing.

"Look B, you know what she likes. You know when you ask it's going to be special no matter what you do. Just ask her." said Chase as he stood from the couch and began walking towards the stairs. Just as he was about to climb them, he stopped and turned to me. "Yall love each other. Don't let the fear of you thinking that it won't be perfect hold you back from getting the one thing you want most."

I knew Chase was right. I knew she would say yes. The only thing holding me back was me. Knowing what I needed to do, I climbed the stairs and crawled into bed. Tomorrow, I would ask Bailey to be my wife.

Bailey's POV:
Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. Not because of gifts but because of the closeness that came from being around those that meant the most to you. Since I lost my parents, the holidays haven't been the same. But thanks to Brantley and his family, this Christmas has been amazing. After watching Daniel and Brody tear into all the toys that they had gotten from Brantley and I plus what they had gotten from Mama Becky and Kolby, we had all sat around watching A Christmas Story. I was sitting in Brantley's lap while he rubbed his hands over my belly causing Colton to kick his hand.

"I'm not good at putting my feelings into words so I'm just gonna say it Bailey. Marry me?" whispered Brantley in my ear. I turned in his lap so that I was facing him so fast that I was sure I had whiplash. I could feel the eyes of everyone in the room looking at us.

"What?" I asked, sure that I hadn't heard him right and that it was just my imagination playing tricks with me. I hadn't been sleeping much lately so it was very well possible that I was losing my mind.

"I said marry me." he said softly. From the pocket of the flannel he had put on this morning, he pulled out a ring and slid it onto my finger. I sat there dumbfounded until he placed his hands on my face, making me look at him. "Well?"

 "Well?"

"Yes." I whispered. Brantley gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen him wear before pulling my mouth down to his. I could hear the whistles and catcalls from everyone in the room but at the moment, I didn't care. All that mattered was that I had risked my heart on loving a bad boy and I was getting the grand prize. I was getting to spend the rest of my life with Brantley making memories, raising our son, and loving one another until death do we part.
