May 26, 1993

It was Stevie's 45th birthday, and she and Lindsey were sitting at the hospital in an exam room. They were doing it there because if everything was okay she'd be getting her first IV treatment that day so they were just taking extra stops. There was an ultrasound machine in the room, and though they were still waiting for her blood work to come back, as she was sitting there naked under a hospital gown, she was giddy.

"I can feel your nervous energy bouncing around the room." Lindsey states.

"Oh I just...I took that test last week, and though I've only puked that once, I have had no bleeding, no pains, so I just know I'm pregnant and I just want to see them Lindsey." She sighs.

"We never got anything like this when Carol was pregnant, so I'm not going to lie, I'm a little excited too." Lindsey shrugs.

"Really, are you happy about this baby Lindsey?" She looks at him.

"An accident, never a mistake...if you are pregnant, I'm going to love this baby just as much as I love the girls...just because I didn't want them doesn't mean I'm not going to love them Angel." Lindsey rubs her back and kisses her head.

It was then that the doctors came in and Stevie bit her lip.

"Congratulations...we did not disrupt your baby." Dr. Anderson states.

Stevie just closes her eyes, smiles and leans into Lindsey who kisses her again.

"So before we continue with your two week post-op check up, I'm going to a prenatal exam, so Dr. Anderson is going to step out, I'm going to give you a pap and pelvic, we'll do a transvaginal ultrasound so you can see your baby, and then we're going to have to talk about risks and so on and so forth, because you of Advanced Maternal Age...you're a boarder line Geriatric Pregnancy."

"Oh gee, that makes me feel good." Stevie states.

"If you make it through the next six weeks, I don't see how there's going to be a problem Stevie so don't worry about it." Dr. Carter assures her.

"You'll be okay Steph...you both will." Lindsey nods running his fingers through her hair.

Once Dr. Anderson left and the exams were over, Stevie was laid back on the table her feet in the stirrups and she was holding Lindsey's hand as the doctor was doing the ultrasound.

"Are you okay?" Lindsey asks.

"I'm fine...you're bigger." She states, and Lindsey's eyes go wide a blush coating his cheek as Dr. Carter just starts laughing.

"Alright, so there you go."

"I don't see anything." Stevie shakes her head.

"That little circle right there. Your baby is about the size of a sesame seed, so it's really tiny. You can't see the actual physical baby but that little circle is the yolk sac."

"The what?" Stevie wrinkles her nose.

"It's the baby's blood source, it'll be totally gone by twenty weeks pregnant. But look at that little blip."

"Is that the heart?" Stevie asks.

"That's their heart yes." Dr. Carter smiles.

"Lindsey a little blip...it's a little blip." Stevie coos.

"Yes Angel, it's a little blip." He nods.

"Little Blip." She repeats going off into a daze relaxing back against the pillows a giant smile gracing her face.

"I'm done here, would you guys like some pictures?" Dr. Carter asks.

"Little Blip." Stevie smiles, and Dr. Carter wrinkles her nose before turning to Lindsey,

"Yes she'll want some pictures." He nods.

"Alright, well I'm going to give you this to wipe her, and you can close her legs, and we'll get Dr. Anderson back in to do what he needs to do."

Stevie was halfway through her IV drip when she turned to Lindsey.

"Look at them Linds." She has the pictures in her hand and she thrusts her IVed arm out to Lindsey.

"I saw them Steph..." He nods.

"We made that, that comes from our love Lindsey." She lightly jumps on the bed.

"When were they conceived?" Lindsey asks.

"I have no fucking clue...They count back from my last period and based off of my last period all I can tell you is that they're coming in the middle of January." Stevie sighs.

"Okay, by default we'll say they came when we were making love, because there was that angry sex when we fought about Emily going to the movies with her friends to see that PG-13 thing." Lindsey tells her.

"I prefer to call that passionate than angry." Stevie tells him.

"Fine, Passionate." Lindsey rolls his eyes.

"You know you didn't have to take the day off of work...I'm glad you did, but you didn't have too."

"I've taken your birthday off, the girls birthdays, and my birthday off for the last three years." Lindsey shrugs.

"But still...I am glad you were here though, to see our little blip."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah...and since you're here and I'm confined to this bed until this stupid bag runs out, you should come lay with me." She pats the empty space on the bed. She had moved over so there was a space that would be considered his side of the bed.

"Yeah?" He asks.

"Yeah." She nods.

He just chuckles and stands up and walks around the bed. He kicks his shoes off and crawls in with her and she nuzzles up in his chest.

"I'm tired Lindsey and I don't know if it's the Epsteins-Barr, the Silicone Poisoning, or the baby."

"We'll call it the baby, you have about a good hour and a half left, why don't you close your eyes and get some sleep because I know for a fact as soon as you get home, the girls have a big plan for your birthday."

"Really? They know I hate celebrating my birthday."

"But they love it. When we left Em told me she was going to try her hand at making you a birthday cake."

"Oh lord, we're going to die. She can't even toast a piece of bread without my supervision." She chuckles.

"I think we'll be fine. If she fucks it up bad enough, she's smart enough to call Karen." Lindsey kisses her head as she settles into sleep.
