October 29, 1993

Stevie was 27 weeks pregnant and the family was eating dinner when Lindsey cleared his throat.

"So Steph, are you feeling up to go to a work halloween party with me?" Lindsey asks.

"What will I dress up as the Stay Puft Marshmallow man?" Stevie asks. She wasn't that far along in her pregnancy but she was small so she looked bigger this far along in her pregnancy.

"No, it's not a dress up party. I have to be in my uniform my date has to be in dressy clothes." He shrugs.

"When is it?" She asks bringing her fork full of past to her mouth. She had concocted her own type of pasta. She had made a ranch and Alfredo sauce, and she had made chicken bacon ranch large shell pasta for dinner.

"Tomorrow party starts at six at the precinct. There's going to be dancing, food, it's downtown trick or treating night so we host a little candy walk for the kiddos to get some candy, and we do candy checks." Lindsey explains.

"I think I can sit through that." Stevie nods.

"If you guys are going to a Halloween Party tomorrow night and Stella's going to a friends house for a sleepover, can I go to a Halloween Party with Lizzie?" Emily asks sipping on her Apple Cider. It was cold, but it was apple cider none the less.

"Where is it?" Lindsey asks.

"I don't know, she has the information, Dom's going, I'll be with friends." She shrugs.

"Dom's going?" Lindsey cocks an eyebrow. He didn't necessarily dislike the boy. Lindsey and Stevie had met him when School got back in session. He wanted to be an engineer and he was trying to get into UCLA so he was focusing on his studies, but he also played guitar so he and Lindsey had something in common, Lindsey really only strumming for Stevie and the girls at home, but at the same time he was dating his little girl and he didn't like that very much.

"Lindsey, if Dom and Lizzie are going it can't be that bad, we should let her go." Stevie shrugs.

Lindsey just looks at Stevie and then back at Emily and he huffs. "Fine, no drinking, if you drink-if Dom drinks, don't get in the car with him. Call us."

"I know daddy, thank you so much." She launches at her father across the table and hugs him.

"Alright, now finish your dinner, we're watching the Great Pumpkin tonight." Lindsey tells them.

"Yes, I love the great pumpkin!" Stella cheers.

"Me too." Stevie winks sipping on her own cider-she had warmed hers up. "Speaking of Charlie Brown...could we do a Snoopy Nursery?"

"A snoopy nursery...I don't see why not. We do have to start thinking about that." Lindsey nods.

"Yeah we do...and I really want a snoopy nursery." Stevie smiles.

"What were ours?" Stella looks at Lindsey.

"When Emily was born Nursery themes weren't a thing it was just yellow and pastel colored. When you were born, Nursery themes were starting but it was like teddy bears or cartoon characters. So you had teddy bears." Lindsey explains.

"Are we going to have a little brother or sister?" Stella asks.

"There's no way of knowing kiddo...we'll find out when they're born." Lindsey shrugs.

"Well, no there is a way to find out we just opted not too." Stevie points out.

"Why not?" Emily asks.

"I don't know I think we just want to be surprised." Stevie states.

The next night, everyone was at their separate Halloween parties. Stevie was sipping on some cider wearing a black knee length dress with a gold shawl over her shoulders. It was her oldest gold dust woman shawl and she couldn't really wear it onstage anymore so she was going to wear it for special occasions. She was talking to Captain Grisman's wife when all of a sudden telephones started ringing.

Stevie cocked an eyebrow as Lindsey came up next to her and wrapped his arms around her, his hands clasping at her belly. The baby had been kicking a lot recently and with both of their hands on her stomach, the baby gave a strong kick and Stevie slightly winced but she smiled all the same.

"Alright men, it's time to draw lots." The night shift Captain, Captain Bently, stands on the table.

"Why?" Captain Grisman calls.

"Halloween Party on fifth...there's reports of underage drinking, disturbing the peace, and screaming almost as if someone was getting raped. That's all the dispatcher told me."

"Agh Hell, my team will take it...we'll take our spouses out on a ride along." Captain Grisman states and Lindsey just starts laughing.

"So does that mean, I get to ride in a cop car?" Stevie asks.

"Yes Angel, you get to ride in a cop car." He nods.

Pulling up to the car with the sirens going, people start scattering and Stevie gasps.

'What?" Lindsey asks.

"That's Emily." She points seeing their daughter in her costume. She had dressed up in one of Stevie's many, many witch costumes.

"Fuck." Lindsey states pulling his walkie out. "This patrol car, A132. My kid is here, let me pull her out of the situation and then we can start making arrests.

"Why is your kid here?'

"I don't know..." Lindsey states blatantly.

"Lindsey this is a college party." Stevie points to the frat house symbol on the side of the house.

"I am fully aware." Lindsey's eye twitches as he climbs out of the car and stomps over to his kid.

Stevie watches from the window as Emily freaks out when Lindsey grabs her.

"No please, my dad's a cop my dad's a cop, let me get him please..."

"I know I'm a cop." Lindsey growls.

Emily tightens up and she turns around and she's freaking out, tears streaming down her face.

"Daddy I'm sorry, I didn't know...I swear." Emily shakes her head.

"She's right Officer B, I didn't tell her until we got here. I'm seeing one of the boys and he invited me and said I could bring friends." Lizzie blushes.

"You're seeing..Liz, how old is he?"

"Nineteen."

"That's illegal, you're a minor...You didn't tell me that..." Lindsey warns.

"Right, sorry." Lizzie bites her lip.

"Go, get in my car...Stevie's in there. All three of you." Lindsey points at each of them, Dominic, Lizzie, and Emily.

They slide into the car one by one and Stevie just turns around. "What is the matter with you three. A college party really?"

"I swear mom, I didn't know...I promise I didn't know." Emily shakes her head.

"She didn't Ms. Nicks honestly, I didn't tell her. I didn't tell either of them. My boyfriend's in the frat and he invited us."

"Liz, that's illegal." Stevie pinches the bridge of her nose.

"I know, Officer Buckingham already told me that I didn't tell him." She rolls her eyes.

"You're lucky he paused the raid, because they were about to arrest you all." Stevie points to the police officers who were hauling kids out left and right.

Once the party was cleared and every one was gone, Lindsey slid into his car and turned around in his seat.

"Emily Marie, you are so grounded, Next time you go to a party you damn well better get ALL of the details. I'm taking all three of you home." Lindsey spits.

"For how long?" Emily asks.

"Your Mother and I will discuss that later." Lindsey growls. Stevie keeps her mouth shut but she was shocked because he had never directly called her their mother. They were calling her mom and she was claiming them as her kids, but Lindsey not once had called her their mother. If he referred to her while he was talking to them, he'd always say Stevie and it made her heart flutter.
