June 24, 1994

Cora was six months old, and Stevie had finally released her new album. It was called street angel and she had just finished singing her new single on an interview show with David Letterman, and she was getting settled while they were on commercial break. He knew what to talk about and what not to talk about, but for some reason she was still so nervous. She didn't know if it was a mixture of leaving Lindsey with the girls because he was currently on call, it had become an every three week thing. He'd be on call for a week, then he wouldn't be on call for three weeks, and then he'd go on call for a week and it just so happened to be his week on call. The girls were home, and as much as she loved Emily and Stella and they had left them alone with Cora, it was never at night it was always during the day. Or it was the fact that she did not look like Stevie Nicks. It was her first public appearance since she had her implants removed, but she was breastfeeding so her breasts were full with milk and were bigger than normal. And she still had baby pudge in her stomach and it kinda made her uncomfortable, because she was a rock and roll sex symbol and she was going on stage having gained weight from having a baby. But at the same time she wouldn't have changed anything because she absolutely adored Cora Lynn. She had grown up so much in her short six months on the earth. She was crawling and she was trying to form word but she was really just making noise and she had gorgeous blonde curls and big brown eyes. But then, there was the fact that she was going to be announcing a special benefit and she did't know how it was going to go over, especially after what had been the Rodney King Riots, even though it had been a couple years the wound was still fresh.

"We are back with Stevie Nicks...how are you?" David asks.

"I'm, I'm good..." She trails off.

"You were never with us at the old show on NBC where you?"

"Well. I was kinda there in spirit really."

"I had mentioned your name several times and then I got a telegram saying Cease and Desist. Never mention Stevie Nicks' name again or we'll send goons to gotcha."

"And see I never knew about it, I was in Australia with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. I was getting telephone calls but no one ever said anything like that and no one will fess up to it, but I fired that management team." Stevie explains.

"So you're here tonight to promote your new album, that just came out...it's a brilliant album."

"Yes thank you." Stevie nods.

"But you're also here to announce something is that right?'

"It is right...So um, I had a baby...I had a baby in January."

"Really, congratulations."

"Yeah, I had a little girl in January, January 5th...and My partner has two kids from his previous relationship, also girls...the oldest is almost sixteen, the younger one is thirteen and after the baby was born, he had just gone back to work after family leave, and the girls and I were sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch and Stella, she's the younger one said 'mom we should do something for daddy.'"

"They call you mom?"

"Their mom died, The day after Emily-the older one-turned thirteen I came into their life the following Christmas so it's been about three years almost four, but they started calling me mom around year two...It's still a relatively new term and I love hearing them call me mom but anyway she's like we need to do something for Daddy. In my head I'm going like what...I already cook his dinner, I gave him another baby, what more could he want...but we got to thinking about everything that's gone on in the world in the last few years."

"My baby's dad-my partner is a police officer...He's on call tonight so if anything news worthy happens he might be there, but he was wounded in January of 1993. I was in DC for the Inauguration and when I got back to Los Angeles he was in surgery it was a flesh wound, mostly...The bullet did break his collar bone, but he's okay now and I was thinking about that and the Rodney King Riots from a while back and I decided that I wanted to do a benefit concert for Police Officers and families of Police Officers, and even though it's for every one I want to especially honor the families of those wounded or who have died in the line of duty." Stevie explains. "As controversial as it might be, I think Police Officers are needed around the world, and I'm not just saying that because I'm with a police officer...I physically hate his job when he's called off in the middle of the night it makes my stomach sick, but what brought me into this man's life is because he was assigned for a security detail at a concert for me, and then he followed me home and I freaked out because why would someone follow me home, but he lived across the street. Not four months later, my house was broken into and he was walking our dog-a German Shepherd- and the dog alerted him that something was wrong and he ran in and he saved me. I was literally about to be raped and he and the dog came in and pulled the burglar off of me. If he hadn't of been there..."

"Oh I agree, police officers are important."

"So I want to share my gratitude for them. And I'm going to make my police officer go. I want all the police officers that go to wear their uniforms."  Stevie nods adding a light laugh.

"When is it going to be?" Dave inquires.

"it's going to be on August 12th, it's essentially going to kick off my tour." Stevie smiles.

"Well congratulations...Thanks for coming in tonight."

"Of course, thanks for having me."

"We'll be back after the break."

When Stevie got home, Lindsey was sitting up in bed, it was a live taping so it was broaching two in the morning and he was feeding Cora her bottle. They were slowly starting to introduce people food to her. Breakfast and Dinner mostly but she still was drinking out of the bottle, except tonight-tonight she was fighting the bottle.

"Did you watch it?" Stevie asks crawling in bed with Lindsey and holding her hands out to the little girl.

Once she saw her mother, she made a screechy noise and she reached for her. Stevie just rolled her eyes and then she took the baby into her arms. She freed her breasts from their confinement and then Cora started drinking from her.

"So she just wanted Mama's milk straight from the spout huh?" Lindsey asks.

"Well, keep it out, maybe she'll drink it when you get up in a few hours..." Stevie coos. When Lindsey's alarm goes off, it usually wakes Cora up and she'll take a bottle then. She'll eat yogurt or oatmeal with her sisters during lunch time.

"To answer your question...yes I did watch it. Your boobs look so heavy." Lindsey states.

"I know when she finishes the left I have to pump the right." Stevie nods.

"You looked good up there Steph." He smiles.

"You think so?" Stevie asks.

"I do...you look really good." He nods leaning over and kissing her temple as she feeds the baby.

"I'm going to miss her when I go on tour." Stevie sighs.

"Yeah, but you'll be fine. I know she'll miss you to but she's in good hands here with daddy and big sisters."

"What about when you are at work?"

"Carrie's going to watch her for me."

"Martin?" Stevie asks.

"Yeah, she retired...she has been working as a CNA since she was seventeen so she finally said that's enough." Lindsey explains.

"I didn't know that." Stevie shakes her head.

"I figured it out when you went back to work a few weeks ago." He smirks.

"I see." Stevie rolls her eyes.

"I know I'm off tomorrow, but I'm tired so I'm going to bed." Lindsey kisses her again as Stevie just pats her baby's bottom.
