So Shorty is living with me now. She sleeps in the guest bedroom and I sleep in the master but we share the rest of the hotel room. Tomorrow is our first game so Shorty and I are packing up our stuff to put into the tour bus. "Let the chaos begin," I tell Shorty.
She's sitting on the ground in front of her suitcase and the only things left on the floor that aren't in her suitcase is her uniform. She doesn't respond to me but picks up her Jersey and looks at her name on the back of her jersey and starts crying.
"Lindsey?" I ask moving over beside her and wrapping and arm around her as she leans against me crying.
"I can't believe that this is all real. That a nobody orphan who never played basketball till she was 19, never played professionaly before, broke, and has never had a basketball coach before can make it this far so fast." She says. That's when I realize it was tears of joy she was crying and nothing could've made me happier.
Soon her phone rings and she puts it on speaker. "Hello?"
"Hey, can I come over?"a voice that we all easily recognize as Too Tall's.
" Sure man." I say.
"Good." He says and right then the door opens and Too Tall steps through. He sees Shorty leaning against me and frowns a little. "Should I come back?" He asks.
Lindsey stands up and walk up to him and gives him a hug. "Its good to see you. " she says and tucks her bangs behind her ear.
"Shorty are you okay? You look like you've been crying." He asks as he rubs his hand against her cheek. She leans into before grabbing it and holding down at arms length.
"Yeah. They were just tears of joy." Shorty grabs her athletic bag from the floor and fills it with her game clothes. Then she was finished packing.
"Hey, um I was wondering if you two would like to join me on the tour bus. We could all sit near each other." Too Tall suggests.
Suddenly I feel protective over Shorty. I already know that she has fallen for Too Tall more than me and I couldn't let him and her get a chance to get all friendly again. "We already have plans." I snapcand glare at him.
"Oh..okay I..."
Shorty cut him off "That sounds like a great idea Jonté. Alex and I don't have plans yet so don't worry we'd love to have you around. " she smiles sweetly at the both of us and that smile makes me feel guilty as ever.
"Yeah sounds great." I respond clapping him on the back.
He looks confused but goes with it. "Okay see ya then." And he walks out.
