Chapter 20

Journey continuation

"Hey?", Kuroo felt a little tug on his sleeve and he snapped out of his half-sleep state. "Huh, hu- oh yeah?", he startled.

"Do you know where we are going?", Kenma asked, "You must. You're the captain. Where are we going?". It was always surprising for Kuroo to hear him talking.

"Promise me you won't tell anyone"

"Do I even look like the talking type??"

"Well yeah, never mind. To see Tokyo Skytree"

Kenma didn't speak for the next 10 minutes or so. Then again, suddenly, Kuroo felt a light tap on his shoulder. He saw Kenma offering a snicker bar towards him. They had their chocolate bars in silence. "Is he trying to interact?", Kuroo wondered.

After around 5 minutes, Kenma wordlessly extended one of the earphones to Kuroo. "Why am I doing this??!!" Kenma thought to himself. The other guy accepted it with all the pleasure and put it in. Kenma was just not ready to accept that he was opening up to someone he met just a day ago. But something felt oddly familiar about this boy?

Kuroo got the song within few seconds, "falling for you", by Peachy. His soulmate's favorite song. Kuroo could feel a sense of panic running down his spine, but he brushed it off by thinking "many people have similar fav songs. Stop overthinking". But the thought that he could actually be sitting next to his soulmate was driving him crazy.

He wanted to ask Kenma to pull out his diary and try writing in it together. But he figured that it'd not be a good move considering his ex was in the same bus, and they started talking literally last night. Yet, here they were. Sharing earphones. Vibing to the same song. The next song was "sweater weather", by the neighborhood.

"You have a commendable music taste", said Kuroo with a smile. His seat partner just smiled back in return. But that was enough to push Kuroo into the well of overthinking all over again.

Time skip to the destination

The bus started to slow down, everyone's excitement was on the brim. Tanaka had his head out of the window, with eyes wide open. Asahi was trying very hard to stop Nishinoya from doing the same. "But I wanna loooookkkkk...!!", Noya objected. His boyfriend kept holding him from his waist, restructuring his movements.

Hinata woke up first, rubbing his eyes, still a little bit dazed. When his vision focused, he noticed that he was wrapped in a soft blanket and Tobio's arm loosely held around Him. For a few seconds, he thought of going back to sleep, but then he realized that they had almost reached their destination. He looked at the tall boy, deep asleep, and blushed intensely. He didn't want to wake him up. "He does look cute. I don't know why people think he's scary". Hinata shook Kageyama ever so slightly, "Kageyama ~ .... Kageyama ~...". He didn't wake up. Hinata shook him just a tiny bit harder and called out "Kageyama, we're almost there, waakkee uuppp".

Kageyama startled out of the sleep, too close to Hinata. He looked confused for a few seconds, staring right into Hinata's beautiful eyes, and then realized that he was cuddled up with Hinata, and released him instantly, face flushed with embarrassment. "I- I'M SORRY DUMBASS". Hinata just rubbed the back of his neck and passed his signature grin, "it's okay..!!"

Tanaka started screaming, "I CAN SEE THE SKYTREE. IT'S TOKYO'S SKYTREE..!!", and with that everyone's heads were out of the window. Hinata's body was across Kageyama's lap, trying to look out of the window. His calming floral scent, kind of like a baby powder, made Kageyama's gay panic go worse.

The bus finally stopped and everyone started deboarding. It was as if nothing ever happened between Kenma and Hinata, not even their relationship. They were practically invisible to each other, but it was no longer inconvenient to anyone as it was earlier.

Nekoma's students have seen the Skytree a lot of times since they lived in Tokyo. But it was very new and exciting to the Karasunos. They all clicked some photos. Nishinoya insisted on being held up like an airplane by Asahi, and Asahi being a great boyfriend did that for him.

Tanaka and Yamamoto somehow felt that it was an amazing idea to click a picture in the titanic pose in front of the Skytree, so they proceeded with that..!! They all spent around 2 hours, just admiring the view and clicking absolutely nonsense photos.

Kenma and Kuroo sat on a bench, still sharing the same earphones, which was now playing "treehouse", by Alex G.

Sugawara was busy telling Daichi something, and he was listening to him with all his interest. Even here, he looked at him as if Skytree's beauty was nothing in front of his boyfriend's.

"Oye boke", Kageyama called Hinata, who was very busy with Noya deciding how to pose next. "Yes Bakayama".

"Come here for once"

Hinata reluctantly went to him, "what do you want now??", he said pouting. "C-can... we- have a... ", Kageyama stuttered. Hinata held back his laughter and said, "awwwwhhhh, Kageyama, so you want a picture with me??"

Kageyama's embarrassment was clearly visible on his face, but yeah, it was true, he wanted a photo of them together. He didn't have any. Before he could do anything else, Hinata snatched his phone from his hand and tried to click a selfie, only to realize that he was too short to click both of them. He looked up with drooping eyes.

Kageyama took his phone back and scooted a bit down to Hinata's height and clicked their first selfie ever. Hinata had a huge grin, (that was enough to brighten up Kageyama's day), and Kageyama had his signature monotonous expression, with a slight touch of pink shade on his cheeks. "Send it to me, okay?", Hinata said this and ran off to Tanaka and Nishinoya again.

Sugawara, who was observing everything from a distance, let out a little sigh. "What's wrong?", Asahi asked.

"I don't know if I should be happy to see Hinata being happy and cheerful again, or I should worry that he's getting close to someone again. We all know how people who are not meant to be, end"

Asahi looked at Hinata for a while, who was now laying on the ground trying to click Nishinoya and Tanaka from a different angle. "Shall I tell you something?"

"Yeah, go ahead."

"I heard Kuroo talking to Daichi about how Kageyama thinks that Hinata is his soulmate. It's a piece of highly confidential information. He told it to Daichi just to be prepared for any more heartbreak episodes that may occur. Don't tell anyone. And don't go asking Daichi, please"

"I promise I won't. I don't want to see Hinata going through all of that again. I hope this is the last. They make a good pair tho"

It was a short journey from there to their next place of accommodation. Again, everyone was given the freedom to choose their partners, but they all stayed the same. Daichi passed them their room keys and instructed them to freshen up and come to the hotel restaurant by 7:30 PM for dinner.
