Date: 4th January
Place: Kageyama and Hinata's room
Time: 10:25 PMWithin the next 10 minutes, Kageyama and Hinata were in their room which was situated at the most beautiful corner of the hotel.
"Tokyo is so beautiful", Hinata thought while looking out of the window which had a perfect view of the late-night Tokyo city lights. Soon after he forgot everything he was thinking and got mesmerized by the view.
"Kageyama, come here..!! Look..!!", Hinata said, waving his one hand with eyes still fixed outside. "These tiny night lights look like the sky has fallen upside-down", he said dramatically and giggled.
Kageyama left whatever he was doing and softly walked up to him, "sometimes he's good with words", he thought to himself with a little smile.
First, he looked at what Hinata was trying to show so enthusiastically. "Yes. Indeed", he replied and then walked back to the balcony door and opened it, "You know there's a balcony too. The view would be much better from here".
"OH MY GOD!! There's a balcony too??!! How did we manage to get our hands on the keys to this paradise ever??!!", he said out loud and ran into the balcony.
"Wait. Yeah, how did we?", Kageyama frowned, "Everyone knows the corner room numbers end with a zero... Daichi or Kuroo could've easily kept this beautiful room to themselves. They were handing the keys randomly, right? Maybe all the-", before he could finish what he was thinking, he saw Hinata who was bending way too forward from the balcony fence.
"OYE BOKE!! DO YOU WANNA DIE?!!", Tobio ran up to the boy and swiftly pulled him back. "What do you think you were doing??!!". Hinata just smiled stupidly in response.
Ever since Kageyama made the first move of apology in the Disney land, and suggested accompanying Hinata on a scary roller coaster ride (even though he didn't like those rides much), things were back to normal between them.
Kageyama stood beside Hinata quietly, with his back to Tokyo city. He observed his little feature that glowed up in the distant faint light and carefully listening to everything he was saying.
"Kageyama, look at that..!! Do you think people on the roof of that building can see us?", he started waving his hand. Obviously, there was no response, and Hinata got disappointed.
"Oye, Oye Kageyama, look at that red car..!! It looks so tiny haha. It's like a toy car..!!"
"Wooaaahhhh, the air is so chilled...", Hinata crossed his arms and rubbed his shoulders, "but I don't wanna go inside. Do you have any issues staying out?"
Kageyama just shook his head.
"You live in Tokyo right, is this all normal to you??", he asked. Kageyama tilted his head and shrugged.
"I wish I could stay here on the balcony forever", Hinata kept talking nonstop. He balanced his elbows on the balcony railing and face in his palms. The clearly visible tint of red on his cheeks was partly due to the cold breeze and mainly because of the excitement he was hardly containing.
But Kageyama was lost at the sight of how the city lights reflected in Hinata's big hazel eyes. "The night looks much more beautiful in your eyes...", he thought to himself, and he felt his cheeks and ears getting hotter.
"Shoyo...", he called softly.
"Wha- what's wrong? Why did you call me that??", Hinata panicked. He wasn't used to being referred to as anything but boke or dumbass by his best friend. Kageyama didn't respond. Instead, he grabbed Hinata's wrist and pulled him closer to have a better look at his eyes. He clutched around his waist and tugged him as close as possible.
"Ka-Kageyama, what are you doing?", it was no more than a whisper.
He didn't know what he was doing, or why he was doing that. "How long am I supposed to be your secret soulmate Sho?", the words stayed inside him. He looked at Hinata who was clearly panicking but wasn't making any efforts to get away.
Kageyama gently pushed the strands of orange hair falling on Hinata's face and tucked them behind his ear. They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity before Kageyama leaned forward and gave the shorter boy a little kiss on his forehead.
"Kageyama~", Hinata craned his neck up, leaving mere centimeters between their lips. Kageyama worked on his instincts and pulled the other boy into a deep passionate kiss. "He's still not trying to break free". They kissed until Hinata went out of breath and had to pulled back slightly, he looked back into Kageyama's eyes.
As if senses had been knocked into Kageyama all of a sudden, he abruptly pushed Hinata away and struggled to come up with an explanation. "I- that, I... I'm so sorry. I didn't... I mean I did... but not like... I'M SORRY I HAVE TO GO..!!", and he ran into the room. Hinata saw him collecting his jacket and phone, and shot out of the room. And he just slouched on the chair nearby, trying to process what had just happened.
Kageyama clumsily tried to put on his jacket while dialing the phone to Kuroo. "Kuroo-san, pick the fucking call..!!", he was getting impatient. He needed to talk to someone..!! And that someone had to be his Kuroo because he didn't have the energy to open up to someone new..!!
Kuroo didn't pick the call for the first time. "Where the hell are you dying Kuroo-san??!!" Kageyama couldn't help but get frustrated. He immediately called again, but this time the call didn't even connect. It was almost 11:05 PM.
Without actually realizing it, he reached outside the hotel. He tried dialing once again, but Kuroo didn't pick the call. Kageyama cursed under his breath and kept walking for a long time towards an unknown destination.
"It's so cold. Maybe I should go back", he thought to himself. "No. I cannot face Hinata again. What on fucking Earth have I done aaaggrrhh"
He kept walking forever before he found a bench on the roadside and sat on it. "Kuroo-san, I need to talk..!!", tears rolled down his eyes. "If you don't pick up now", he dialed his phone again, "I'm gonna leave all my belongings at the hotel and head back home right now". And this time Kuroo answered.
"Oh hey Kageyama"
"Kuroo-san... where were you?", Kageyama's voice was cracking.
"Sorry, I was in the shower", Kuroo replied.
"I need help...", he was barely holding up.
"Yeah, go on..."
Kageyama briefly explained what had happened before having a terrible breakdown on call.
"Okay Tobio, send me your location..!! I'm coming. I'm sure the hotel would not mind lending me a cycle ". Kuroo could hear heavy sobs from the other side. "I'm coming..!! Don't cry..!!". Kageyama hung up the phone and sent his location to Kuroo.
Kuroo ran down the stairs and then to the hotel lobby and requested a cycle, they were more than happy to lend him one. The receptionist also warned him not to stay out for too long. Kuroo bowed and rode away on the cycle at full speed.
It was getting hard to breathe due to the cold air, but that didn't stop him from reaching his kouhai who was in the middle of nowhere, having a mental breakdown..!! After about 10 minutes of riding on the cycle at a furious speed, he found him.
He found him sitting alone on a roadside bench under a street light, with his face buried in his hands. Kuroo could tell that the boy hasn't stopped crying yet.
