Chapter 11 - Your Old Friend

You decided to explore the castle a bit. You were given the freedom to do so, except the restricted rooms.

You tried to find the library. But the place was like a maze. You sighed and rested on the floor.

"What are you doing?" You turn around and saw Medusa behind you. "Why are you just sitting here?"

"I can't find the library." You replied. "I got tired of looking so I sat here for a while."

"The library? Didn't Marrowkai take you there before?" She asked. "Well, I forgot the way." You said.

Medusa rolled her eyes. "Follow me then." She told you as she led you to the library.

You followed her and finally found the library. "Finally!" You said in relief as you ran inside. You immediately started trying to find something to read.

You got a book about the Chaos Empire. You figured it would be useful because you live here now. It would be good to know the basic stuff.

You sat somewhere and started scrolling through the pages. You decided to read the chapter about the units found in Chaos.

"I never knew you liked to read." Medusa said. You ignored her and started reading.

The first ones were Enslaved Miners. Miners taken from the Order Empire to provide Chaos with gold. They must be the ones you saw a while ago.

There were Bombers. Suicidal units who held dynamite sticks. They can detonate themselves and deal a lot of damage.

The next one were Juggerknights. They were sadistic and heavily armed infantry who used axes and shields.

Then, there were the Deads. Undead units who could throw their guts and poisom units. Some of them are used to defend castles and statues and are known as Castle Deads.

The fifth one were Crawlers. 4-legged creatures with red eyes and black fur. They gain more power when in groups and are fast and agile.

After that, were Eclipsors. Winged units who held a weapon known as a longbow. They had dragon-like wings to fly, making them a dangerous foe.

Marrowkai, skeletal mages who formerly used to be Magikill before harnessing dark magic. They can use 2 kinds of spells and have the power to summon Deads.

Next, were Giants. They were of a great size and used a big club and a dead Giant's body for a weapon. However, they lack proper intelligence.

Finally, you recognized the last unit. Medusa, the Queen of the Chaos Empire, who is mostly known for her ability to petrify units. She is also able to summom Bombers and use Venom Flux to poison units.

You were interested in what you were reading that you didn't notice Medusa standing behind you.

"What are you reading about?" She asked. You flinched in surprise. "Its a book about the Chaos Empire." You replied.

"I never knew you would be interested in that." She said. You went back to reading. You looked at the history part now.

There were various chapters about people called the Great Knights and Wingidons, but it didn't catch your attention.

The one that did was the one entitled Queen Medusa. You read through the pages and found it quite interesting.

But the last part was pretty sad. 'All but one of them survived. She managed to hide in a cave to keep herself alive but swore to avenge her fallen nation.'

Is that 'her' Medusa? You looked at around and faced Medusa. "What?" She asked.

"Were there other Medusas before you?" You asked. Medusa didn't reply. You repeated your question.

This time, she sighed. "Yes, there were." She answered. "I used to have a grandfather. He was the leader of my nation." She looked away.

"We were victorious in every battle. Excpet one. We were defeated with everyone gone. But I survived." She explained.

You felt sad for her. "Wait, so you're the only Medusa left?" You asked. She looked at you. "Well, yes. Until we found you." Medusa replied.

"Me? But I already said that I don't have any powers." You said. "You're wrong." Medusa replied. "You have powers. But you were never able to use them."

"What kind of powers?" You asked. "The same as me." She answered. "Well, everything except summoning Bombers."

You nodded. "So I always had powers, I just never knew about them." You said. "Yes, thats why I will train you so that you could use them properly." Medusa replied.

You smiled. "Ok!" You told her as you went back to reading. Medusa left after a while.

When you finished the book, you looked outside. There were jagged mountains in the horizon. There was a thick forest where the Crawlers lived.

You also spotted a few gold mines here and there. A few castles also stood in the distance. You smiled as you really wanted to go outside. So you did.

You went to a Juggerknight guard. "What do you want?" He asked. "Can I go outside?" You told him.

He looked outside first. Then he looked back at you. "Fine. But no escaping or I will-" You interrupted him.

"Yea, yea. You will kill me." You said as you pushed him aside and made your way outside.

When you stepped on the ground, you stopped and looked at how Chaos looked like.

The sky was grey instead of blue. Instead of Enslaved Giants and Albowtross, there were real Giants and Eclipsors.

You took a while to notice these differenced when you noticed an Eclipsor. She was about your age and was trying to talk to the Castle Dead.

But Marrowkai went on the balcony and shooed her away. You watched as she landed on a gold mine and sighed.

You saw how lonely she was. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try and talk to her. You walked to the Eclipsor. She looked at you with confused eyes.

"Hello, my name is-" But before you could continue, she interrupted. "A Swordwrath? In Chaos?" She asked.

You nodded. "My name is (YN), whats yours?" You asked. But she looked at you with a surprised look.

"(YN)?" She asked. "Yeah, why?" You replied. "Don't you recognize me?" She asked. You shook your head.

"My name is Lila." The Eclipsor said.
