"Hi honey," my grandmother kisses my head.

"Hi grandma," I smile.

"I'm glad your back baby girl I've missed you so much we need to go shopping!"

"Yeah, my clothes look baggy on me now," I pull my shirt out.

She laughs and starts a conversation with my mom.

My grandpa sits in a chair and gives me a nod.
He can't really talk, he has one of those smoker things on his neck.

I hug his shoulder and sit on the couch.
"So Sam?" My grandmother asks. Sam snaps his head up to see her.
"Yes?"

"How are you doing in tennis?"

"Fine, since I've been more active I had to up doses on my inhaler but other than that, thing are going pretty smooth."

"You never told me anything about your asthma," I mumble under my breath.
"You've been to busy with Mason," he shrugs.

My face feels hot.

"Oh well," my grandma rubs her hands together. "Are you going o state championship this year,"

"Possibly."

She gives him a wide smile and sits next to my grandpa who seems to be a asleep.

"Should I throw a rock?" I ask.

"No, that would get you grounded for sure," Sam laughs.

"A couch cushion?"

"Are you trying to kill our grandfather?"

"It's not like he's going to be here a lot longer."

Sam smacks my head.

"Dimwit," he laughs. "Now go help mom with dinner before I throw a rock at you," I roll my eyes.

"Oh my goodness!" My grandma says covering her mouth.
"This is absolutely delicious!" She takes another bite.

"Thank you mother," my mom says. "So, Cassie, why don't you tell grandma of how much you've improved since you went to Missouri," she looks at me.

"Does it really matter?" I frown.

"Yes it does, now go on."

"Mom you know I don't like this subject please stop."

"Cassie just-" she gets cut off by the door opening. Mason trots through the door.

"So sorry I got a little busy," he smiles.
Why is he joining us?
He sits down and takes a sip of his water.

"Cassie?" My mom touches my arm.

"What?"

"Why is this such a touchy subject for you?"

"Why wouldn't be?"

"Just tell your grandparents now."
She says in a light tone voice but with some force at the end.

"No."

"Cassie!" My grandmother says.

"What? Oh sorry, I said no that's foul language isn't it?" I look at Mason who's eyes were already on mine.

"Well Fuck this!" I say. "Yes Missouri help me. They beat me every time I didn't eat. I got called some rude ass names when I was there. They didn't help they made it worse! I took a few bits and spit the rest out the window. So no, I didn't get better, I wear these baggy clothes so the make me look bigger. I eat my dinner and it feels like it's going to come back up. So Missouri was the biggest mistake you've ever made in your life," I stand up, looking at Mason who had a frown on his face.
