$Chapter 9$
Tell me what you do when someone is slapping you across the face while your sleeping? My answer: You send a rock through the window and hit them in the head. "Ow! Hey I just thought you wanted to go to school!" I sat up and smiled. "Yes! Are you coming this time?" I asked kind of hoping he would say yes."Well yeah, I mean someone has to keep Stephen away from you." I rolled my eyes and stood up."I need to get my clothes."
"No you don't. I already got them for you." He held up by blue skinnies, white tee-shirt, and black tank top. "How did you know that's what I wanted to wear?" I asked surprised.
"You have a tendency to dream about what you want to wear the next day." He said, smirking. I shook my head. "Can't you stay out of my head for at least five minutes?"
He shook his head and said, "I've been staying out of it for five years. I decided to give up on resisting." I walked out of the room when he finished talking and headed towards the bathroom. I took a shower and dried my self off. When I walked out of the bathroom to get my clothes off of Elijah's bed there was a piece of paper on top of them. I picked it up and it read: Here's your new schedule for school. I opened it and there it was. I had all of my classes with Elijah. "Seriously?" I asked myself. "I'm so cereal!" Yelled Elijah up the stairs. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my clothes as I headed back in the bathroom to get changed.
I noticed I didn't have a brush and I really needed to tame my hair. I saw Elijah's comb out of the corner of my eye and thought 'Why not?' I grabbed the comb and tried to run it through my hair. I tugged and pulled until I had tears in my eyes. "You are going down you unmanagable, beast." I confronted my hair. I went to do a huge tug with the comb, but when I pulled, it broke in half. "Uh oh. I hope Elijah didn't like that."
"Like what?" I swirled around, and found Elijah casually leaning against the door frame with his back pack slung over his shoulder. "Oh.... um... Nothing." I hid the comb behind my back and smiled. The corner of his mouth tweaked up and he said, "You suck at shielding your mind. You know that right?" My smile disappeared and I took the comb out from behind my back. " I hope you wern't very fond of this." I held up the comb and wagged it infront of my face. "You know you brush is right there." he pointed to his bed, and sure enough my brush was sitting right there. he rolled his eyes and took the comb. "Why dont you just use the air to dry your hair?" I opened my mouth to snap back at him, but then I thought about it. "Well how do you know it works?" The side of his mouth has tweaked up again only higher this time. "Just trust me, It works." I shrugged and faced the mirror.
A thought of my hair came to my mind. It was like the air around me ripped through my hair because the next thing I knew I was wiping tears from my eyes. The air had taken all the tangles and water out of my hair at the same time that when I looked in the mirror my mouth fell agape. My hair had turned into a tumbleweed sitting on top of my head. Elijah was behind my trying to hold his laughter. "You asshole. You knew that would happen." My concentration strayed when i looked at the clock. "Holy fudge nuts! We're gonna be late!" I ran past Elijah and scooped my back pack up off the bed. "Chill it's only seven thirty."
"Yeah and school starts at seven forty-five." Elijah rolled his eyes and followed me down the stairs. "You might want to do something with your hair." I sent a water ball right at his face, making his shirt and hair all wet. "Not cool Lainy." I smiled and kept walking. "Let's go Elijah. You know for a vampire you're really slow." Elijah shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "You give me a head ache." He mumbled. Ignoring the rude comment, I walked out the door and ino the gloomy day. Once we got to school, I started to head to my first period when Elijah grabbed my arm. "What?" I asked. "You don't have your old classes anymore remember?" I nodded my head in realization and started walking with Elijah to my new first period. On our way I saw Stephen. Or should I say Elijah's twin? He was surrounded by a whole gang of girls trying to flirt with him. Our eyes met for a split second before I qiukly averted my gaze from his. Elijah's grip tightened on my arm a little. I looked down at my arm not even knowing Elijah had been holding it this whole time.
"Uh, Elijah. My arm isn't vampire strength proof so can you kindly let go?"
"No, I feel protective over you in public. Specialy when he is part of it. And now that we know your powers your the most important thing on the planet. Well, in the witches perspective." My mouth turned into an 'o' an then turned into a frown.
"Please tell me I won't be the center of attention to the witches." I pleaded.
"Oh you won't be the center of attention. I relaxed spittle until he said. "You'll be smack in the middle." I groaned and looked at the floor. Hearing Elijah chuckle. My gaze snapped to him.
"Its not funny. You know I hate being center of attention.." I whined.
"I never said center I said smack in the middle." I smacked his arm and said. "You know what I mean." We had finally arrived at our first class. When we walked in all he said was
"Yes I know."
