Holy shit! I just checked and it's been more than a month since I last updated?! Time goes by so fast!

It was rather weird to be heading back to the village. This time with no fear of impending death looming over you.

At least not with the way you were basically being guarded by the Dimitrescu family. Daniela clung to your right arm as the two you walked behind Lady Dimitrescu and the two eldest daughters.

Bela was to the left of her mother while Cassandra was to the right, the three were having light conversation about how nice it was that the weather was getting much warmer. On several occasions, one of the three would try to subtly glance over their shoulder to see if you and Daniela were still behind them.

Each time, Daniela would send her sisters a goofy face while she would smile innocently whenever her mother turned to look back. You had to hold yourself back from laughing at the facial expressions she made at her sisters.

"Dani, I swear if you send me that same stupid face again, I will lock you out of the castle when it's freezing," Cassandra scowled after she took a quick glance behind her— only to see Daniela sticking her tongue out at her while cross-eyed.

You and Daniela started quietly giggling at her threat which just made Cassandra roll her eyes.

Lady Dimitrescu then decided to tilt her head to stare back at the two of you. You and Daniela immediately relaxed your facial expressions and sent her calm smiles. She quirked her eyebrow at the two of you but didn't say anything, refocusing her attention back on the path towards the village.

"My legs are tired," Daniela announced dramatically after another ten minutes of walking, "I never realized how far the village is from home."

"How are you tired? You last longer on hunts and they take more than a couple of hours!" Bela glanced back at the two of you to focus on Daniela, whom immediately sent a quick comical facial expression, making Bela huff.

You chuckled lightly as Daniela replied, "Because I get an adrenaline rush when chasing down prey, I've never had to walk idly before."

"Don't bother trying to save face and just call yourself lazy," Cassandra bluntly stated, not bothering to turn around.

"I am not lazy," Daniela grumbled, her grip on your right arm tightening slightly, "I just...choose wisely on what I spend my time doing..."

"Right," Bela deadpanned, obviously not believing her.

Daniela pouted and looked up at you, "Carry me, please?"

It's not like you can say no. You hummed and nodded your head in agreement. She grinned excitedly and jumped onto your back as you placed your hands under her thighs to keep her balanced, giving her a piggyback ride.

She was surprisingly light, very light. It was as if she only weighed forty pounds or less.

Maybe it's because her body is made from flies?

"Hey!" Cassandra stopped walking and turned around to face you two, her eyes narrowed, "That's not fair!"

"What? Jealous?" Daniela stuck her tongue out and wrapped her arms loosely around your neck, placing her chin on top of your shoulder, "Too bad."
