It was Two in the afternoon.
You blinked blankly at Daniela who was grinning up at you like an excited child. You guys were in her room.
There's no way she asked that, is there?
You ask her to repeat herself, "I think I misheard you, Lady Daniela. What did you ask me again?"
She glanced around, almost making sure no one else could hear your conversation, "Well, I was hoping you could sneak out to the village and buy me something."
"You...want me...to sneak out?" You restated in confusion, "Is this some sort of trap?"
She let out a little snicker, "No, it's just that Mother's Day is coming up and...there's something I wanted to make for mother."
You were beyond baffled.
"Do your sisters know about this?" You question, tilting your head at her.
She frowned, "No, they don't know about this. We always get separate gifts for mother. The things I give mother are never as good as Bela's or Cassandra's gifts."
"I'm positive your mother appreciates your gifts just the same," You gently comforted her.
Daniela played with her necklace and lowered her voice, "Mother made us these necklaces. I want to make her one but don't have the correct materials for it. Can you please go to the village and get them for me?"
She pouted up at you adorably as you silently contemplated it. You sighed dramatically, "How do I sneak out of here?"
Daniela cheered before quickly lowering her voice again, "The front door, of course."
"The front door?" You asked, flabbergasted, "Your mother or sisters will definitely hear me leave."
Daniela smirked and winked, "Don't worry. I'll create a diversion. While everyone is confused, you make a break for it."
You stilled for a moment as Daniela got lost in thought, no doubt planning what she's going to do to gain everyones' attention.
You gently called out her name, "Lady Daniela?"
She quickly turned her attention back to you, "Hm?"
"Why are you asking me to do this?" You muttered.
She frowned, "What do you mean?"
"You do realize that I can use this opportunity to leave and never come back, right?" You searched her eyes.
She stiffened as if just realizing that you could very well use this opportunity to escape and never return.
She stared back at you and murmured, "You wouldn't do that, would you?"
Her voice was so soft, it resembled a kid asking 'are you sure?' after you tell them there are no monsters under their bed. It honestly made your heart melt.
It takes you a minute to realize that Daniela is still a kid in her own ways. She's trusting you to do this for her and not let her down.
Besides, they've treated you better than most people at the village. Which is kinda sad considering your relationship with the sisters and Lady Dimitrescu wasn't that healthy from the beginning.
