Depths of Hell pt. 2

*Rayla POV*

As me and Charlie stare at the abomination on the monitor. Two words pop into my head. "Holy shit."

I look at the other monitors, trying to find Joker or somebody. I see an elevator footage and see Joker and another girl, that look just like him.

"I knew it" I said. "He's alive!"

Charlie look at the monitor. "That's your friend? Who's she?"

I shake my head. "I don't know. But hopefully we can catch up to them. Looks like they're heading to level three. Let's go."

Charlie and I run out of the room and make our way to the elevator.

We are almost there, when the elevator doors explode.

"What the fuck" I yell.

Click. Click. Click. Click.

Charlie and I turn our heads, hearing the sounds of heals clicking.

Charlie runs around the corner. "Hey! Stop!"

I walk towards Charlie, to find no one. "Let's go. Whoever they are, we might meet them later."

Charlie turns to me and nods.

"Let's take the stairs. The elevator is obvious not happening" I said.

We make it to the end of the hallway, to the stairs.

As we make our way down, I notice Charlie's eyes are wide.

"You okay" I ask Charlie.

"Huh" Charlie said in shock. "Oh yeah. Just, worried."

I stop in my tracks, and look back at her. "About what?"

"Well" Charlie said. "What if I never find my sister. What if this was all for nothing. What if I never make it out of this city."

I look at Charlie with worry. "I... don't have all the answers, but I can try and help ease your worries."

"Oh yeah" Charlie said, not convinced.

I nod my head. "Yeah. Instead of thinking of the worse, think about the best. Like 'what am I gonna do when I find my sister', or 'what's the first thing I'm gonna do when I get out of here', that kind of stuff. Give it a try."

Charlie pauses for a bit. "When I find my sister, I'm gonna give her the biggest hug I could ever give her, then slap her for making me worry. Then, when I get out of here, me and my sister are gonna go home and forget this ever happened. Maybe I'll go back to school and get my education" Charlie said, a smile creeping on her face.

"See, your smiling" I said.

"Yeah. I guess I am" Charlie replies.

I smile Charlie. "Look, the future isn't set in stone. But I do know today's not the end of the world." I take her hands. "So, how about this. I'll help you find your sister. And if she's not here, I'll still help you. No matter what."
