HAYDEN & BRIANNA

Brianna Serrano

Yay! After I received my schedule for classes, I realized I shared two classes with both my BFFs, Julissa Gutierrez and Natalie Castro. It was gym class and English.

It was currently third period, which meant English for us, and Ms. Bellavon was just rambling on about a book we were going to read for the next few weeks and do worksheets on it and all that shit.

At every table there were four seats, and me, Julissa, and Natalie all sat at one. Unlike most teachers, Ms. Bellavon was actually surprisingly pretty chill, so she left us like that under one condition, we didn't distract ourselves or others. The other student sitting at our table has to be the smartest one in the class, his name is Hayden Black, which has its pros and cons. Pros meaning he could help us out (more like copy off of him) and cons meaning he didn't want us talking at all at some points. Did we listen? Of course not! This is the class I shared with Randy Olivares. Remember that banana kid from Walmart? Yep, that's him.

Until unfortunately for me, Ms. Bellavon moved me to the nerdy table claiming I'm better off with them. At this table sat a girl named Serena Collins and Randy, and Hayden didn't move at all. She just sent Julissa and Natalie elsewhere, with more smart kids for them. I was upset, but at least they were still here.

Anyway, I was whispering something to Serena, when Hayden groaned quietly and turned to glare at me, his piercing stare sending me a clear message: Shut the fuck up.

"Brianna, please shut up. How am I supposed to listen with you blabbering the whole damn period?"

Motherfucker. Who told him he could talk to me like that?

I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "Well, that's your fault for plating your ass down at our table."

"As if I had a damn choice! Ms. Bellavon sat me down here so I could help your hopeless ass." He shot back, with a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

This asshole! I'll show him who he's messing with.

I gasped slightly, feigning hurt. "Well damn, who ever said I needed your futile help? You do nothing but yell at me all the time!"

"Because you don't get it through that thick skull of yours no matter how many times I explain the lesson to you-"

"Mr. Black and Miss Serrano, please continue yelling at each other during my class time!" Ms. Bellavon's strict voice cut Hayden off, daring us to continue, her gaze clearly telling us not to unless we wanted to go to the principal's office or some shit like that.

I swallowed hard, staring down at my empty notebook, now realizing I hadn't written down any of the notes she had on the projector. Fuck. "Sorry, Ms. Bellavon. It won't happen again."

She scoffed, and turned back to the projector, shaking her head at me. "That's what you said yesterday."

Oh shit. I mean, she had a point. Hayden and I were known to argue like an old married couple, not that I like the nickname, but it was too late now to change it, considering everyone at school referred to us like that.

Some minutes had passed since Ms. Bellavon's outburst, before Serena started chuckling, catching mine, Randy's, and even Hayden's attention. "I can already see it! Not even a day has passed by, but Hayden Black and Brianna Serrano go at it again like an old married couple in English class."

I blushed madly, averting my gaze towards my empty notebook. Despite the circumstances, Hayden was still a guy, and it was still embarrassing for me to hear that out loud again. I wasn't sure if Hayden knew about this phrase they called us.

Hayden looked horrified. "Wh-What?! Who ever said that...?"

Serena chuckled, glancing over at him. "Basically everyone in this class, I can still see some people looking this way."

He scoffed, and shook his head, going back to copying the notes into his perfectly full notebook. I should ask him to let me copy him, but as if he were going to let me do that. "As if, she just gets on my nerves a lot, so I can't help but to put her in her place."

He was talking as if I weren't sitting right next to him! Asshole.

I cleared my throat, catching his attention, as he glanced over at me, rolling his eyes soon after. "Hellooo, I'm still right here, y'know!"

"Oh yeah, must've slipped out of my mind since you're irrelevant to me." He replied, chuckling soon after as he kept writing down his notes flawlessly.

I sighed as I watched this, not having anything to say to that. Great job Brianna, let him win again.

I then mustered up the courage to say, "Hayden, can you let me copy off your notes again . . . Please?"

He ignored me for a while, as I continued to stare into him, noticing he was getting uncomfortable. I smirked at this, realizing it was working. Almost there, Bree . . .

He then groaned and threw his head back, his Adam's apple bobbing as he gulped, before he sat upright again, his hazel/green eyes boring into my own. Goddamn, that was actually sexy . . . Focus, Bree, the notes!

"Fuck, fine, if it'll get you to shut up," He said, looking up at the projector to keep writing down more notes. "After I'm done." He mumbled, avoiding eye contact and ignoring me again.

I grinned, and leaned into him, as he visibly flinched, but didn't move. "Thanks Hayds, you're the best." I whispered, before straightening in my chair again, looking up at Ms. Bellavon as she continued on with the lesson.

He didn't say anything after that, but I didn't miss the small smile he had on his face.
