Chapter 1/1

Cicadas sang in the trees, reveling in the heat of the summer sun before it set below the horizon.

I was on my way home, carrying a potted morning glory that I'd recerived from the rich lady I'd just delivered a kimono to.

(I didn't realize morning glories' medicinal properties made them such expensive plants in this era.)

The little pot full of broad, green leaves brought to mind a certain someone.

(Summers are almost as hot and humid as they were in my time, but without the relief of AC.)

(Still, I think I can stand the heat i fit means getting to look at these flowers with Masamune every morning.)

Glad to have something to look forward to over the summer, my steps were light as I made my way back to Masamune's manor.

.......

(I wonder where Masamune's gotten off to.)

I was in the middle of searching Masamune's usual haunts when I heard someone practicing sword fighting in the garden.

Mitti

"Masamune! I'm home!"

Masamune

"So I see! Hm? Did you dig up someone's garden on the way here?"

Masamune sheathed the sword he'd been practicing with, nodding to the pot in my hand.

Mitti

"No, you ridiculous man. I got this as thanks from that rich lady I'm always making kimono for."

Masamune

"Morning glories, hm? Quite the precious gift."

Mitti

"Do you mind if I plant them here?"

Masamune

"Of course not."

Mitti

"Yay!"

I scouted out the wall with the most sunlight and ran to place the pot at its base. I'd plant them later, but they needed water first.

(I don't actually remember what color morning glories are supposed to bloom. Blue? Purple? I can't wait!)

Mitti

"I wonder what morning glories mean in flower Language."

Masamune looked confused at my rambling.

Masamune

"Do you often speak to flowers...?"

Chapter 1/2

Masamune

"Do you often speak to flowers...?"

(Oh, right. That wasn't invented until later in history.)

Mitti

"Oh, flower Language is... Well, people gave different flowers meanings. It's like a hidden message when you give someone flowers."

"Things like 'true love' and 'memory'. 'Truth'. Things like that. The meaning changes depending of the type, color, and location."
