Chapter 4
"Roxi." A familiar voice of an old lady chirped my name.
I arose, and Zayn followed. Arms tightly around me, Zayn brushed hair out of my face.
"Right in here" the lady motioned for me and Zayn to sit in a familiar room with a glass door, and painting of Beauty and a Beast on it. "Dr. Stone won't be long." She informed us before calmly walking out of the room.
My attention turned to Zayn as the door closed.
"Roxi." He reached out for my hand and held it tight. "Please don't worry. I'm here for you."
"I know Zayn, I just... I'm worried."
"But don't be." His voice was hushed and full of comfort.
We broke out of our intense stare when we heard a cough. I jumped and Zayn looked up.
"Sorry to frighten you." Dr. Stone said. He shut the door, and walked over to sit at the end of the bed Zayn and I lay on. "Roxi." He started.
"Dr. Stone. Just stay it. Come out and say it. I can handle it. I don't want the suspense, just tell me." I beg. He nodded and I gripped Zayns hands for dear life.
"Roxi. It pains me to say this..." His voice trailed off and I knew in an instant what he was going to say.
I threw my head into Zayns chest and cried loudly. I heard him cry along with me, but he tried his best to stay strong for me.
He ran his hands threw my hair and kissed the top of my head.
"Roxi. It's... You have... Stage four brain cancer." Doctor Stone bowed his head down and a tear streamed down his own face. "I am terrible sorry." He stood up from his seat. "I'll leave you two for a little bit." He nods and exits the room.
"Roxi..." Zayn spoke holding back more tears.
"Zayn just... No." I shook my head. "This isn't happening." I attempted to stand on the cold floor, but Zayn wrapped his arms around my waist.
"No, stay here." He begged.
"Zayn let go!" I screamed at him. I pushed off him and proceeded to pace the floor, knuckles white from clenching my hair tight in my fingers. "No!" I scream once more and sunk to the floor in pure tears.
Cloudy eyes made to hard to see.
Coughing made it hard to breath.
Fear made it hard to move.
"Roxi." Zayn moved across the room to where I sat. He slid down the wall next to me and adjusted to the coolness of the floor.
He picked my feather light body from the floor and placed me back on top of his lap. "Roxi." He said again.
"Why do you keep saying my name, Zayn!" I screamed threw tears.
I honestly didn't mean to be mean, I just was so scared and confused. "I'm sorry Zayn."
"Don't be sorry. I know this is scary for you." He rubbed my back and drew me into his chest. "I just don't know what to say. I have never had to take on something like this."
"Me nether, Zayn." I whispered back.
" Then, we can do this together. Me. You. We will kick cancers ass!"
