Soobin was left dumbfounded as he stared at the smiling boy in front of him.
"What's wrong?" Kai innocently tilted his head, "It looks like you've seen a ghost."
Soobin furrowed his brows in confusion, "Did you not hear what you just said?"
"Of course I did," Kai quickly nodded, "I said I'll join you wherever you decide to go."
"Why?" Soobin whispered
"Huh?"
"Why are you willing to drop everything and run away with a person you've just recently met?"
Kai sighed as he thought about all of the progress he's made in his schooling and career. Don't get Kai wrong, he knew how crazy he was for this and how risky it was but he had already made up his mind. The answer for Soobin's question was pretty simple, "It's because you make me happy."
Soobin instinctively wrapped his arms around Kai, "You make me happy too." Kai returned the action and the two boys just sat there in silence for what felt like an eternity.
For the next two months, Soobin has lived with Kai in his dorm. He wasn't allowed to go outside for anything. All Soobin had to do was sit in the room and work on their plan and hopefully wait out until the end of Kai's school year has ended.
Soobin had tried to ask Beomgyu for help since he has done this before but Beomgyu kept giving him the cold shoulder. He was not happy with Soobin moving in with them so suddenly and ever since Taehyun's arrest it seemed like Beomgyu didn't want anything to do with Kai or Soobin anymore.
Kai returned home after his internship. It's been very hard to work at the hospital with Nurse Choi. She's worried about her son and keeps bringing him up everyday and Kai wants to tell her that he is okay but he knew he can't. For Soobin's safety he has to keep playing dumb.
Soobin looked up as Kai entered the room and immediately noticed something was wrong, "Kai, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just don't know how much longer I can keep this from your mom," Kai admitted.
Beomgyu scoffed as he locked the door behind him, "Then don't."
Kai widened his eyes, "Beomgyu! You know how important it is for nobody else to find out about Soobin!"
Beomgyu didn't bother responding and sat on his bed, turning his attention to his laptop.
"Kai," Soobin looked at him worried, "You're not seriously thinking about telling her are you?"
"Of course not!" Kai waved his hands frantically, "I just hate seeing people hurt that's one of the reasons I became a nurse in the first place," Kai explained, "Even if someone is emotionally hurts it's my instinct to help the person. It's hard but I swear I will never tell her anything."
Soobin let out a sigh of relief, "I really appreciate that Kai."
Kai didn't say anything and ran over to Soobin, nearly tackling him as he held the older boy in his embrace.
"Woah," Soobin stumbled a bit but managed to keep his balance.
"I won't disappoint you!" Kai announced.
"Kai you don't-"
"And I promise," Kai's hold tightened, "We're going to get out of here together!"
"Of course Kai," Soobin pulled away and saw the tears threatening to fall from Kai's eyes at any second. Soobin ruffled the younger boy's hair, "I know we will."
"A-are you sure?"
"Positive sweetheart," Soobin placed his lips against Kai's and he quickly responded.
