Lying Camera

Enthusiasm
Shoots through your system
Followed by confidence.
You snap a photo of your
Face
And all of the
Assurance
That before was filled to the
Brim,
Is now completely
Empty.
The photo captures
Every flaw;
Every bit of yourself
That you dislike-
Despise.
Your chest becomes tangled in
Knots of worry
And disappointment.
But pay no mind
To the lying
Camera-
You are beautiful.
The camera can't catch
The way your eyes light up
When laughing.
It doesn't see the way your lashes
Droop over your eyes when
Sleepy,
Or the look of
Concentration
In your eyes when reading your
Favorite book.
So don't believe the
Lying camera;
It was made to
Drown us in our
Insecurities.
