Paper hearts strung up
Hung up
On walls
Walls bleeding red
Reds
Pinks
And more reds
Chocolates and flowers and cards
Oh my
Sad singles
Craving a cry
Or two
They watch a romance on tv
Fake feelings of affection
Oozing out of the screen
Tenacious tears
Oozing out of their eyes
Calamitous cries crumbling
Out of their mouths
A steadfast emptiness clinging in their
Stomachs.
