Erin's POV

"I'm home." I shout from the door, letting Joey know I've arrived.

My first day of school is far from I've expected. I don't really know what I expected but it worked out pretty well.

But that boy that smiled at me yesterday, yes, Michael Clifford. He's my seat mate in biology class and we have math class together. Can't he see that I don't want him to talk to me?

Joey comes walking down the stares. "Hey." He says, smiling like always. "The Cliffords are expecting us later."

"Can I just sleep?" I reply fast.

"No. We're both going."

I roll my eyes and scroll through my phone.

"Just get ready in 30 minutes."

I don't want to, I hate my life.

I get up and go to my room. I pick a dress. I'm deciding whether I'll wear blue or white, and yes. I lied to Joey about my dresses. I still have them. But I choose neither. I pick the black lace dress (above the knee), and wear a pair of dark blue converse and pull a black jacket on.

"Ready?" Joey asks, knocking on my room.

"Yeah. Just a moment." I say, putting some lip tint on so I don't look so pale.

"Be polite. Say hi to all of them." Joey reminds me before pushing the door bell.

*ding dong*

Michael answers the door. "Hi, Mr. Reid." He greets, his voice shaking a little but still manages to smile widely. He's wearing a gray gap hoodie, his typical black skinny jeans and vans. "Come on in."

"Missy, say hi to them." He grabs the little kid's hand, which I assume is his baby sister, and walks towards us. "This is Missy."

I kneel down to Missy's height, "Hi." I say, smiling. She's cute. I go nuts when I see kids all the freaking time. She grabs my neck, hugging it tight. I almost trip, but Michael helped me get my balance back.

I can see Michael smiling too in my peripheral vision.

"Dinner is ready!" His mom shouts from the kitchen.

Joey walk towards the table. They talk for awhile, so I'm left with Missy and Michael. Which I am avoiding to happen.

She keeps on squishing my face. We we're both laughing then Joey comes. "Erin, dinner's ready. Come on." Joey pats my shoulder.

I nod and stand up. Still carrying Missy in my arms and put her down on a baby seat next to Michael. I sit across Michael.

"Erin, lead the prayer." Joey says.

"Okay." I can't say no though. "Bow your heads folks.... Dear God, thank you for this meal. Thank you for your endless blessings, thank you for your everlasting love. Thank you for everything you've given us. In Jesus' name, Amen."

I catch Michael, staring at me when I open my eyes.

"Let's eat." His mom says, smiling gently, making him turn his head away.
