Erin's POV

It amazes me how cool the snow is. I mean, there's no snow in California. This is literally my first time seeing snow, because when Joey has meetings and premieres he won't let me come. I miss California though. I miss the warmth of LA. I miss my home, but I guess this is home now. We moved in because Joey needs to do some research about teenage depression. He said we'll be staying here for good. I don't know how long that is, but I have no rights to object because in the first place I'm not even his daughter.

Joey adopted me when I was 5. He's a writter. I never knew where my real parents are and I don't need to know them. I'm completely fine now without them. I don't call Joey dad because I find it awkward, but he's like my real dad.

I'm outside for atleast 10 minutes now just watching the snow and catching some with my hands. Suddenly the door of our neighbor just across the street opens. A boy with blonde hair, black hoodie and converse comes walking outside. I had a conversation with his mother yesterday, Mrs. Clifford.

"Love you too." He shouts, I bet he's talking to his mom.

When his eyes land on me, he stares at me for a moment then smiles. It's rude not to smile back, so I do.

I'm avoiding people to talk to me. I don't want to have a conversation with anyone. So after a minute or two, I run back inside.

"Erin?" Joey shouts with his mouth full from the kitchen.

"Yes Joey?" I shout back and walk towards him.

"How is New Jersey? Are you liking it?" He asks with a wide smile.

"Yeah." I say quietly, sitting next to him.

"You're going to school starting tomorrow. Are you okay with that?"

"Yeah, cool." I reply. "But can I drive myself to school?"

"No, not yet. I'll drive you." He pats my head and walks to his room, leaving me alone in the kitchen.

I nod, munching some pizza from the oven. It's still hot so. I can say I'm enjoying New Jersey's weather.

I stay in my room the whole day. I just play music and sleep, there's nothing much to do though.

When I wake up, it was so cold. And Joey isn't home. I text him. "Where you at?"

"Just bought a heater, you were asleep so I didn't wake you up to comewith me. I'll be there in a minute."

"you should have. I hate you. Kidding. Keep safe. :)"

He wasn't lying when he said he'll be there in a minute. But he stops over Mrs. Clifford's house and they talk for a while. I can see Joey poiting at my room. Then he finally turns and head home.

"Bought you some lasagna!" He says, smiling. Walking to the kitchen and putting down the paper bag.

"That smells delicious." I say.

"It is delicious." He replies, getting a spoon. "Here ya go."

I reach for the spoon. "What did you and Mrs. Clifford talked about?" I say chewing.

"She invited us for dinner," he pauses. "Tomorrow night."

"Oh, are we coming?" I ask.

"Ofcourse. Pick a pretty dress. A colorful one."

"But I don't have a colorful dress." I chuckle. "Remember when I threw all my colorful dresses I had and kept the dark ones only?"

He rolls his eyes, and we continue eating. "But we're still going."
