Choi Ryumin
"Good morning,"
Hearing his familiar voice, I suddenly wanted to run and hide my face but something kept me still in my place.
I averted my gaze at Hyunsuk, I looked at my brother as if I was obligated to memorize every bit of him just so I wouldn't have to acknowledge the presence of the other person in the room.
"Hey," The two boys shook each other's hands and hugged
Finally, using all the force I could muster from myself, I turned to look at him.
He gave me one of his radiant smiles and it seemed like I had forgotten or I never fully appreciated how handsome he was but I have never been less pleased to see him.
"Why are you here?" I sounded ruder than I meant to be
"Well, admit it, you'll need muscle-man Park Jihoon," he boasted, but I didn't take notice of his funny remark, because, at the moment, I just wanted to eliminate him, just like how I wanted to eliminate my unnecessary feelings for him.
Now was not the time for him to be here. Today, I told myself I was going to move forward because I was going to college but with him being here, I see him as somewhat an unfinished business I had when I was in high school.
"Was that all?" he said as I watched him close the door of the moving van, dusting his hands off after doing so
"Well then, let's get going!" dad initiated outside, starting the car that my brother was going to drive,
I acted as normally as possible when I saw him approaching back to our house, I was in the sitting room, watching him lift those boxes with my dad and Hyunsuk in the garage.
"We're ready to go," he talked to me more than to my mom who was in the kitchen, arranging snacks for all of us
"Oh, here dear, you must be exhausted," my mom handed him a sandwich
"It was nothing, Mrs. Choi,"
I wasn't looking at him but I felt his gaze pierce through me as he stood there, a few meters apart from where I was seated.
I stood up and grabbed my bags then headed out for the door, I saw him trail behind me from my peripheral view.
"Your mom and I will be sitting in the moving van, they still have room there for us, we just need to be sure that nothing will get lost in your stuff." Dad explained to us, handing the keys to Hyunsuk
"Jihoon, are you coming?" Hyunsuk offered, I cursed him for doing so
"Totally," Jihoon simply responded then went into the backseat, I automatically went for the passenger seat beside Hyunsuk but when I opened it, it was already full of my hand-carry bags that he put there on purpose.
"Sorry," he looked at me pretending to be regretful but I knew he loved every bit of the show.
Though forcefully, I went to the backseat where Jihoon was seated and sat beside him, keeping the distance at a reasonable measurement.
The whole trip was consisting of Hyunsuk and Jihoon talking to each other, they tried to involve me in their conversations but I only responded shortly and limitedly.
I also thanked myself for putting a book in my bag because it became an excuse for me to become busy,
I pretended to read it until I found myself already halfway through the story. And I must say, despite the old and fragile pages, the story was going undeniably great.
