Saturday arrived, and I was a little nervous for our date. I still have a few hours to prepare mentally for this date. I leaned on my window and just sighed. Was I right to accept a date with one the most popular guy at school?
"Princess, are you thinking about jumping?"
His voice broke me from my thoughts and looked at him. He was shirtless and just wearing sweatpants. Are you trying to torture me world?
"I'm going for a run, should I go shirtless, or wear a shirt?"
I turned red, he laughed.
"Uhm, I think a shirt is good. You don't want to get sick."
"That's true, gets a little windy sometimes. Thanks, are you ready for your date?"
No, because I wish it was you I was dating and not someone else, but I guess at some point I have to move on.
"Yeah, should be fun." I replied.
"Well, have fun."
"Thanks, how are things with your girl?"
"They're okay, I mean we're still getting to know each other. There's only one little issue-"
"Nathaniel Michael Hawthorne, get your butt here!" I heard Luna yell. I laughed.
"I'll talk to you later." He winked and then left.
I giggled. I closed my window and watch a movie. A few hours later, I got dressed and Ethan texted me saying he was outside. I said bye to my parents and then made my way out.
"You look beautiful." He smiled.
"Thanks, you don't look bad yourself." I smiled back.
"Bring her in one piece and don't hurt her." We look up to see Nate.
"No worries there." Ethan answered him.
"Bye princess." He waved at me.
"Later Nate."
We got in the car and he drove us to a fancy restaurant. We took our seats and then the waitress gave us the menu.
"Ohh, okay this looks good."
"What does?" He asked curiously.
"The bacon cheese burgers with fries." I giggled. "I'm surprised since this is a very fancy restaurant."
He chuckled. "I mean is always good to have a classic option, just in case."
"True that." I said as I checked the milkshakes.
I'm not into the whole, eating very fancy food. I prefer homemade meal or go with the classic food.
The waitress came back and took our order's. I ordered the burger with fries and the Oreo milkshake. He order some pasta with a coke.
"So, what's the deal with your neighbour?"
"What about it?"
"Davina, come on. The guy has a cute nickname for you, the way he looks at you is like, my dad looks at my mom." He said in the most calm way.
"We're just best friends. We grew up together." I said simply.
"Riiiiight." He chuckled.
"Does this bother you?" I asked as the waitress brought us our food.
"It would, if I thought of you as more than friends. Not that we are, but you get the idea."
I chuckled. "Okay, then why ask me out?"
"If was either me, or Chase. The guys made a bet on who could take you to dinner and then pop your cherry. It was a bet made by the leader of one of the bad boy's group. I told them if they let me, I would give them 2k to each one."
I furrowed my brows. "How did you know about the bet?"
"I was walking one day by the lockers and overheard them. Davina, if Chase had been here instead of me, you wouldn't be eating, he would be forcing himself on you." He sighed. "You're too pure and kind to have someone mistreat you."
I smiled, I leaned over and gave him a kiss on his cheek. "It's good to know that there are still good guys."
"Yeah, that's why we are the friend zone type." He joked.
"That's because the right girl for you is still out there waiting for you."
"Yeah, for what is worth, I'm glad I'm here with you, gives me a chance to know you. You seem like a great person to have as a friend."
"My life is simple, school, home, bakery, watch movies, hang out with my friends and repeat." I grinned, he chuckled.
"Sounds interesting."
"And my love life is from the sidelines." I added.
"Why not make him jealous?" He suggested.
I gave him a look. "That would never work. He is dating someone and I'm not sure about the whole making jealous."
"Just a suggestion. Ever read the book, Chasing Oblivious?"
"No, what's it about?"
He explained to me about the book and it picked my interest. "Do you have it?"
"Yeah, we can make a quick stop at my house and I'll lend it to you."
I nodded.
...........
We went to his place and he lend it to me. He told me to take my time and give it back when I'm done. He drove me back home and even though it was a friendly date, I had fun.
"I actually thought you were going to be rude tonight, but you're a great guy.
"I did too. Can we still hangout, I could use a friend." He smiled.
"Of course, that's what I'm good at." I smiled back. "Thanks for a great night."
"I had a great night too." He replied.
I got off his car and he waited til I enter my house. My parents ask me about the date and I told them the truth. I heard a little noise from outside. I opened the front door and checked it.
Meow
I look everywhere, til I found it. It was on the tree, the kitty was shaking.
"Stay there little one. I'm going to climb and get you down."
I started to climb and finally reach the kitty. "Gotcha." I looked at the kitty and it was a he. "You're so cute and tiny."
Then I heard a little Crack. "Oh oh. I don't weight that much. This branch should be able to support me."
Meow
"Thats true, I did just ate burger, fries and a milkshake."
And before I knew it, I was falling. I closed my eyes and waited to be knocked out. The tree branch was a bit high.
"Why does this not surprise me?" I opened my eyes to see, Nate. He caught me before I hit the ground. Thank God for Nate and his running routine.
"Great catch." With that, I fainted.
He chuckled. "Princess, you are something else."
