Gratitude can do many things.
Karas POV
It had been about a week since the interview I had at L-Corp. the name has officially been changed and the articles have been published. Several—or all—articles had been about the name change being a deception. Just a trick. Clearly biased. I on the other hand had written what I gathered. Just a young women trying to get away from her family. I know the feeling...
I had walked through the building giving away cheery good mornings to everyone I'd cross. After the article had been published, Snapper had given back the office Cat had given me with the promotion. When I had entered I took note of an insane amount of pink roses. Like overflowing almost. There was just enough room for me to get to my desk, where I had to move flowers from my chair. I had moved to grab the ones sitting on top of my desk when I noticed a note.
Thank you for the article.
-LL
I smiled, assuming the double L stood for Lena Luthor. Lena really didn't need to get me any flowers for the article. I had just written the truth.
"Woah." Winn, my coworker slash best friend mumbled with a wide eyed look, "What's with all the roses?"
     "They're from Lena Luthor."
"Oh!" Winn seemed far too excited about the flowers being from the raven haired women, "That's your secret yet not so secret crush right?"
"Winn! She is not my crush!" I meekly defend, "I just... admire her."
"Right..." He drags the word out slightly, "Gushing about her all week is just admiration."
"Then it's the same with you and James!"
"Don't try and change the subject!"
"I was not!" I gasp with mock offense, "I was making an... observation."
"What are you two talking about?" James sounded from behind us making us both jump.
"Nothing!" Me and Winn almost shout in unison.
"Right... anyway, Kara, Ms Grant wants to see you."
"Oh! Thank you." It was rushed out as I swiftly started to her office.
There's a chance I could be fired. I know this, which sucks. But you never want to keep Ms Grant waiting. She's only the most powerful woman in National City.
"Keira, so kind of you to finally show up." Ms Grant was sporting an unimpressed smile on her face. I'm totally fired.
"I'm so sorry Ms Grant, I-"
"Quiet Keira. I just wanted to congratulate you on your latest article. It wasn't great, hell I don't even think it was good. But you seemed to make an impression on Lena Luthor. She doesn't show a liking to well... anyone."
"Oh, well, it was nothing." I reach up and fiddle with my glasses, "Is that all?"
"5:32. You have another interview with her. This time it's about the new alien act the president is instating."
"Why would we be asking Lena Luthor about something like that?"
"Simple, she comes from the most notorious alien haters. Why wouldn't we find her opinion?"
"Right..." I mumble slightly nodding my head, "I'll start prepping then."

Lenas POV
"Ms Luthor, Kara Danvers form CatCo is here." Jess says over the speaker.
Oh, they had sent Ms Danvers again, "Send her in."
A few moments later the skittish blonde comes walking into my office. Without Kent blocking the way I can see her wiping her palm on her slacks.
"Ms Luthor." She smiles extending her hand.
She still has a nervous air about her. I may not be able to do much for her anxiety but I can make myself come off as less intimidating, "Lena, please." I smile taking her hand.
"Well if I'm calling you Lena..."
"Then Kara it is." I can't help but smile back as we both take our respective seats.
"I'm assuming you already know what this interview is about?"
"How could I not? I am the daughter of the most well known alien haters after all."
"But you aren't your family." Kara had stated it so simply. She sounded so sure. You can't fall for her Lena. She has a soulmate. "So what do you think?
"I can't necessarily say it's a bad idea." I state thinking for a moment, "But I do know many people won't be happy. I mean with the image inducer's coming to the market, I'm not sure I can blame them. Some people may want to know if their coworkers are alien."
"Isn't that a violation of free rights? Asking them if their alien I mean."
"I suppose it is. But I think everyone deserves to know." I say raising an eyebrow, "What's your opinion?"
"I-well, um-" Kara fumbles over her words before taking a breath, "I think aliens should have the right to use the image inducer's. I mean-uh, most people aren't excepting if u-them. So they might want to stay in hiding a bit longer..." The end of her answer turned into a bit of a mumble.
"An interesting view you have Ms Danvers. I suppose you're going to write a scathing article now?"
"I'm going to write the truth, just like I did with my last article."
      "You're different from other reporters."
     "I-I am? I can stop I mean-"
"It's a good thing Kara." I say with a smile tugging on my lips, "it's a very good thing."
"Oh." She mumbles with a slight blush.
"I'm assuming you got everything you needed?"
"Yes!" Kara said a little loudly, "Yes."
"I look forward to seeing you again."
"Yeah..." Kara gives me a small wave before she starts walking to the door. She freezes a moment, "You're hair looks really nice today. Just a by the way."
The blush that painted her cheeks before she left was quite adorable. There was a tinge of hurt knowing it the complement wasn't for me. I mean, why do all the people I like always have to not be my soulmate?
I let out a heavy sigh before I hear Jess on my speaker, "I didn't mean to ease drop but that sounded like a very heavy sigh. Is everything alright Ms Luthor?"
No, "Yes Jess, everything is fine. When is my next appointment?"
     "In about thirty minutes."
That can be enough time to cry.
