"Best friends forever, huh?"
***
Lydia left Stiles' body in the abandoned swimming pool, later making an anonymous phone call to the police. His father was going to see his little boy's fresh corpse and despair. It was her fault. She should have known that Stiles was persistent; he has been since they were little. Jennifer had been waiting for him in the darkness. Perhaps she even stalked him.
Either way, he was dead. There were many ways that she could have prevented this, but it was too late to change things.
She laid on her bed, still soaking with water and black sludge. Her dress had been torn and shredded from the waist down. Luckily, her mother was still at the dance on chaperone duty, so she wouldn't see her like this.
As she took a moment to breathe, Lydia turned towards her bedside cabinet. Atop of it was a framed picture of her and Jennifer as kids. She snapped out of her despondent gaze and, in a moment of pure rage, she snatched the photo and threw it to the ground. The wooden frame split and the glass cracked. It ruined a seemingly perfect memory. Every memory of Jennifer had been tarnished. There was always a hint of jealousy protruding from her, but she didn't realise it was that bad. Their friendship was toxic from the start, yet Lydia always chose to ignore it.
What had they become? They were monsters in their own right; only Jennifer was so much worse. Deep inside, she knew that her friend was not truly to blame. After all, she had been the victim of something horrific.
It was time to end things for good. No more cowardice. Lydia was going to avenge her boyfriend and all the other lives that were taken. Jennifer had taken one life too many, and now it was time for her to pay.
Let's kill tonight.

With barely any energy left, Jennifer slumped on her bed and doodled in an old yearbook. She had to throw her formal dress away to avoid questions from her mother about the blood on it. Her wound had since healed, but it still stung. The television in her room was switched on, showing some old fitness video. "Abduction and adduction, right?" A man on the television demonstrated on some equipment. "Inner and outer. But you know what's really important? Hurdle or sprint. That's huge."
As Jennifer circled a boy's picture with a red pen, she gazed at the bright screen with envy. How was it so easy for them? All they had to do was run on a treadmill and suddenly they were perfect. She had to eat people. She had to chew on their flesh and drink their blood to feel strong. All she wanted was to be pretty and popular like Lydia. She didn't know what she was now. She was just empty. Jennifer was so empty.
"Say I wanna do just my hip flexors or my buttocks even more. I do what's called digging. I use this for a lot of swimwear models." He explained. "Very, very important."
