Note from the author: It's been two-plus years since I made the last chapter, but my family and a few of my friends told me I should continue. Here I am, probably going to finish the second book- I don't quite know where I was going with this, or why I named most of the characters after internet providers. I *was* trying not to make this as cringe as it used to be, except my friend said I should, so enjoy whatever I come up with. If your favorite characters are not any of the 4 I'm leaving in, I am sorry for your loss but I do not like writing with a gigantic cast of characters- especially since I've left them terribly underdeveloped. I forgot how old they are so now I am making them 19. The reason they are able to go on trips is that they have money from the early 1900s that they stashed safely away in a cave in the woods. Sky's POV- It had been several weeks since Sprint left his recorded message in those bushes. Since then, we'd all got together and decided we wanted to go on a trip. It had been a couple of lifetimes since we'd actually gone somewhere and let loose. Leigh decided we should head over to Oregon and camp for a week, despite having to fly across the U.S., and it being the time of year when wildfires were raging. The flight was at 6 PM out of JFK airport, and we arrived at 4 due to Leigh's insane management skills. I have never known the reason why anyone arrives at the airport earlier than 2 hours before their scheduled flight time unless the roads are clogged with traffic. In my opinion, security takes an hour at most, but that's probably why I never plan our trips. Leigh loves to do it, she's more of the Mom Friend, always has been- it works for us. Blake gets hassled by details, Verizon doesn't care, Galaxy just shrugs. Kyle enjoys helping Leigh plan things, I predict that by the conclusion of this flight, they will have arranged several trips to the Bahamas; the two of them have wanted to go for the past two lifetimes. We'd driven there instead of flying, despite it being NYC where the public has definitely seen stranger things than Flying Wolves, we wanted to pretend to be normal for a day. I'd rented out a Dump Truck, I had a Class A license and was the only one able to drive it- I have no clue why my friends did not get higher class licenses, it enables you to drive a ton so you don't need to retake any exams or retake a driving test so you can drive a 26,000+ pound truck and trailer. Blake, Grace, and Kya were the only ones who got a driving license every lifetime; the rest of the gang didn't see the point. Only three of us could drive stick, Kyle, Verizon, and I. Verizon didn't like to drive, he said it was silly because he had wings- he enjoyed pointing that out, even though we all possessed such things and had for centuries.

The airport was crowded with parents and children roaming about, the restaurants clogged like a subway at 6 AM when everyone's rushing to get to work. It had that feel of grogginess you get when you stumble outside after watching a long movie and are overwhelmed by the amount of sunlight you see. That's the part that drives me crazy about airports, along with the waiting- with a pandemic, it's been even worse. All of us got vaccinated as soon as we could; naturally, we remained wearing our facemasks to protect others while going indoors. Blake was uncomfortable the second we stepped out of security and entered the throng of people walking to their gates. We were scheduled to disembark at 6 PM, except our flight was delayed until 7. Kyle held up a finger and left to buy us all food at the burger place. He produced 7 burgers, each with french fries, patties slathered in ketchup - only Connor's had barbecue sauce, Grace had very patriotic, bright yellow American cheese on hers. We headed up to gate 22, which was across from the door that led to the rooftop. "You're eating Eagles," Galaxy exclaimed in wonderment. Grace's face shifted to an expression of bewilderment; as though she were a deer caught in the headlights and not sure what to do next. "Um, okay.." She responded. Kyle's burger began to flop over and collapsed with a plop in his eco-friendly container. Blake sat on the opposite end of the metal bench from me, understandably so- he wedged Galaxy and Connor in between us so we couldn't see each other. We'd broken up two weeks ago because we just didn't... connect anymore. Sure, the friendship was there, but there wasn't a lot of love nor time for us to work on it and figure out how to move past our differences, we'd decided to let it go and remain friends. "I wish you a kinder sea," (Emily Dickinson) is the best way to explain how it ended- with a few feelings of loss and regret, but ultimately both of us knowing it was the right decision. It's difficult to explain.

Around 6:20, we masked up and re-entered the airport, heading over to sit by our gate. There was a guy who looked about 5' 8 sitting wearing a baseball cap alongside another man wearing an identical one. "Why are you wearing the same hat as me?" The second man, around 6' 2, asked- he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, while the first wore a pair of Dickies slacks and a collared shirt. "Red leather yellow leather red leather yellow leather," he replied. Taller Guy deadpanned him and gave him the finger- he howled with laughter. I held back a laugh myself and made my way to 6 empty seats, where we sat and waited for our flight. We got on around 7:15, and I began to doze off immediately. When I was awake, it was awkward to sit beside Blake on the plane; the only good part of the flight was when Galaxy opened the window after we landed on the hard tarmac that was the runway. The flight attendants went batty, flitting about, torn between reprimanding her and figuring out how she opened it in the first place. Galaxy was clueless, which meant Leigh had to bring her aside and explain why one should never open an airplane window- most of it went over Galaxy's head, which was alright since we rarely flew. Champ headed to baggage claim with Henry and Hunter; I believe they were embarrassed to be seen with us. Leigh, Galaxy, and I went over to wait for them by the shuttle area- we had a hotel for tonight. Tomorrow we'd set up camp in Newhalem, which was located right on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, or the Specific Ocean if you asked Champ. Leigh loathed when he said that, of course, it was funny the first time but now it was simply erroneous. We'd landed around 2 Am our time, 11 Pm Portland time. The time difference was +3 hours, not terrible. We got to the hotel and went to bed as quickly as we could.
