Marcella (Mama)

It was morning and I didn't check up on Elena when we came home last night. I went across the hall and approached Elena's room. I knocked, "Lenita? Estas despierta?" (Are u awake?) no answer. I opened the door and found her and Benny cuddling alseep. They were so cute matching with their pjs. I closed the door and went downstairs to the kitchen to make breakfast. I was making chilaquiles rojos. Jasmine went to stay over with Alex and pray to the lord they didn't do anything.

While I was cooking I started thinking, seeing Elena happy with Benny makes me happy. I really do thank god for sending Benny in her life. Her last relationship with Philips was so sad. What even got me mad was he would hit my niña chiquita. That made her father and I very furious. Especially Oscar and Miguel. Philips was such a bad person to Elena and made her think negative about herself. Every time I passed by her room I can hear her crying but I didn't interrupt her sometimes because she wanted some alone time. But Jasmine would be there to comfort her all the time.

"Good Morning Mrs. Santos." I heard behind me. I turn and see Benny with his hair all messy. "Oh good morning mijo." "Need any help?" "Actually yes I do can you please cut the tortillas into small pieces." "Ouuu ur making chilaquiles?" I chuckle, "yes I am 😊"

He goes around the island and starts cutting the tortillas. "Um Mrs. Santos?" "Hm?" "Um what happened between Elena and Philips? Everytime I would ask her she would just.. stay quiet and change the subject. I'm really worried. 😔" I knew Elena wouldn't want me to tell him but he's worried for her so I think I should tell him. I sigh. "Benny have a seat." He goes around the island and sits in the stool in front of me. "Philips and her were very happy for around a month or 2 then when school started she would come home very sad everyday. I would ask her how her day went and she would just say it was fine. Then sometimes every time I would pass by her room at night I can hear her crying. I would ask her about why she was so sad but she would put on a fake smile and just say she was fine and happy. Then weeks later she came home with a black eye. We asked her what happened and she just said she got hit with a baseball. Then around 2 days later she came with a bruise on her arm and leg. We asked her and she just said she would trip. Then Julie came home with her because they were gonna do homework. So I pulled Julie aside and asked her what was happening with Elena. Then she looked like she wanted to cry. She then told me that Philips would abuse her at school but in the storage room because she would talk to guys. She told me that Elena got that black eye because this boy was asking Elena some directions to a class and Philips got mad and punched her in the eye. So we confronted her and we talked to Philips' parents and they sent him off to a boarding school but I guess he came back." When I stopped talking Benny looked like he wanted to cry.

Hearing Marcella say all that of what happened to Elena broke my heart so much. In her eyes you could tell she wanted to cry. So I got up and just hugged her. Then she started to cry. "Mama? Benny?" I turn and see Elena staring at us. I run to her and give her the biggest hug in the world. She hugs me back but you can tell she looked confused. "I am so confused." She says. "Elena? Why didn't u tell me about u and Philips?" Her face went pale and just stared and her mom. "Y-you told him?" She said quietly. "Mija im sorry I had to-." "But mama that's between us you can't tell anyone!!" She screams at her mom." She then runs upstairs and I go after her. "Elena. Elena stop pls amor." She turns around, "Benny u weren't supposed to know any of that." She then started brushing her hair with her fingers and walked back and forth around the room. "Elena calm down please." she then started mumbling stuff and started to cry. I walked to her and gave her a hug. She just cried and cried in my arms.

She was in my arms for around 15 minutes then she picked her head up. "Benny I'm sorry I should've told u but I was too selfish." "Your not selfish it's just you weren't ready. I'm sorry too I never should've asked about your business if you weren't ready to tell me yourself." She then places a small peck on my lips. "Let's go eat, my mom's food might be ready." I nod and we go downstairs. She then goes to her mom and pulls her aside. Then I turn my head and see them hugging each other. But this isn't over yet..I am so gonna beat Philips' ass for hitting a woman especially Elena...
