"Hey! Wanna grab lunch?" Kane asked Carson.

"Huh? Uhm... I still have patients. You can go ahead" Carson quickly walked away. Kane was confused and somehow embarrassed because for the nth time this week, Carson declined his offer to go eat lunch or grab a coffee.

It's been two weeks since her crying episode

"Is she avoiding me?" he whispered to himself. "Kane!" Owen called him.

"Write these orders for Mr. Callister and run his labs ASAP" spaced out Kane didn't seem to hear what Dr. Hunt said.

"Hey" Owen tapped his shoulder.

"You okay?"

"Yes. Uhm...write orders and run labs for Mr. Callister" he said.

He was heading his way to the laboratory but his mind was still plastered with Carson.

Is she avoiding me?

Was it something that I said?

What did I do?

All of those questions pop in his head, if she is avoiding me, why?

Meanwhile Carson was busy suturing patients with cuts all day.

"Dr. Shepherd!" a nurse shouted. Carson involuntarily stuck he head out of the cubicle, only to see Amelia walking towards the nurse.

She later realized what she had done and quickly pulled herself back to the cubicle and pulled the curtains.

"Right, not Shepherd anymore"

She whispered to herself

Carson just focused on her patient. "Hi, I'm Dr. Montgomery, So, what's your name? How are you feeling?" she asked while checking the patients head lac.

"Melanie. Melanie Banks and I feel a little dizzy" the girl said. Carson nodded

"What's yours?" she asked. "What?" Carson was confused. "You responded when someone called Dr. Shepherd and now, you're Dr. Montgomery." Melanie responded. Carson checked her pupils.

"Oh, uhm... I'm Montgomery-Shepherd. Normally, I'd use Dr. Shepherd but there's another Dr. Shepherd here. So, I use Montgomery" she explained. "Does your head hurt?" Carson asked

"It hurts a little bit. Is it not allowed to have two Shepherds?" she asked again, she looked confused and waited for an answer.

"Uhm... It is allowed" Carson briefly answered. "Then why are you not using Shepherd?" Melanie asked again.

"It's a long story" Carson answered. "Well, you have to start now, I don't have all day" she happily said.

Melanie's smile is so contagious that it blew Carson's anxiety and worries

"Before I tell you my life story, you tell me first how you hit your head?"

"Oh, I was putting up frames in the living room. I recently moved here from LA, I got this great apartment; 2 bedrooms, has a breathtaking view of the space needle and has a fully furnished kitchen. As I was saying, I was standing on the ladder, to put my groceries on the top shelf in the kitchen—

Carson stopped for a moment.

"I thought you were putting up frames?" Carson interrupted her.

Melanie seemed lost her the conversation and looked at Carson. "Oh yeah! Yeah, right. I was putting up frames in the bedroom, it was pictures of me when I was a kid"
