So when that time rolled around, I'm rushing out to find them.
More importantly, I'm rushing out to find him.
I find my group quickly, and a great weight lifts off my chest upon seeing each of them. They're okay. They're alive. They're here.
He is walking ahead of everyone, and I can't help but smile at the pace he walks. He's quick, but not quick enough. I need him here now. I needed him beside me last night. I need to have my arms around him again, and I swear I won't separate myself from him ever again. It doesn't matter how long we spend apart, whether it's a day or a few hours, I miss him.
But he's here, and he's slowing down when he spots me bringing myself out of the boat I stole.
He finds his feet again, and I find mine too. We begin to move towards each other, quickening our pace to join one another in the middle.
Meet me halfway, J.
The second we step into our bubble, I practically jump into his arms, and he catches me, securing us in our bubble that nobody could pop. I press all of myself into all of him, taking his warmth and breath as I squeeze him tightly, afraid that I'll be taken away if I don't hold on this time.
His arms secure around my back while mine wrap around his shoulders. I feel tears prick in my eyes, but I feel safe to cry in this safe bubble we've created. I was briefly snatched from it but I'm back now, and I don't plan on leaving.
"I'm so glad you're safe," he whispers into my hair before I feel his lips press a gentle, simple kiss in the same spot. Oh, I've missed him.
