I looked at my watch as i walked through the hotel. I had been too on edge to wait in the room and J.J. said she would wait up for me to get back so i was heading over early.

When i got there i still had about ten minutes until midnight so i sat down on a park bench to wait, glancing at my watch every few seconds.

I was looking at my watch as it turned to 12:00 and i heard a familiar voice. "You seem nervous."

I nearly jumped out of my skin as i bolted to my feet and turned around to see the guy standing behind the bench i had just been seated on. He chuckled. "I guess that was an understatement."

He walked out from behind the bench and stood a few feet in front of me. "So, you want to talk?"

"U-um... Yes." I swallowed my fear and looked right at him, though his hood still hid his face. "Why are you stalking me?" I asked as confidently as i could.

He was silent.

"Did you want something from me?" I asked. "Should I be... afraid of you?"

He laughed. "I don't know. Should you?"

That pissed me off. "I asked you here to get answers. If you're to going to tell me anything them I'm going to leave."

I turned on my heel and was about to walk away but, he stopped me by jumping in front of me. "Wait. Sorry. What do you want to know?"

I glared at him. "Thank you."

He sighed and leaned on a tree. I sat down on the bench again. "Who are you?"

"I can't tell you."

"Why are you sending me notes?"

He shrugged. "You're different. I wanted to see how you'd react."

I frowned. "I'm not something for you to run tests on. If you wanted to talk to me you should have just done so in the first place."

"That wouldn't have worked."

"Why?" I asked

"Because... It just wouldn't." He looked at the ground.

I sighed in annoyance but, went on. "Why did you... kill... those boys?"

"They were going to hurt you."

"Are you going to hurt me?"

"No. I would never do that. Not to you." He seemed a little upset i asked.

I was quiet for a long time. He didn't ask me anything and i relaxed a little. Finally, I asked, "Why would you go to such lengths just to stalk me? I didn't think I was that important to anyone..."

He looked back up at me and i tensed a little as he stopped leaning on the tree and came closer. He squatted in front of me and i could just barely make out his blue eyes out of the darkness of his hood. "You are very important to me."

He reached up and brushed his fingers under my chin. I stared into his eyes. "Why?"

He tilted his head to the side. "Why is a wife important to a husband?" He asked.

"Because he loves her..." I said slowly. My eyes widened and i turned a light shade of pink. He smiled. "Bingo."

For just a minute i got lost in the beautiful blue sea of his eyes. He stood up and i looked up at him. He moved a strand of hair from my face. "This was interesting. Is there a way i might be able to talk to you again?"

I looked down. "I suppose..."

He nodded. "I'll find you later then."

He started to walk away but, I stood up and called out, "Wait! What's your name?" He turned back to me. "Jeff." He said. Then, just like that, he walked away and disappeared into the shadows.

I stared into the empty space where he had stood only seconds ago and put a hand to my beating chest, collapsing back on the bench. That was so nerve racking but, i was glad i got some information.

I sat there for a while just thinking about our conversation before i finally stood up and headed back over to the hotel.

(Jeff's POV)

I sat in a nearby tree watching her stare into space. I smiled. She sure was an interesting girl. The first one i had ever thought of as more than just prey.

I saw her stand up and start back towards her room and i followed her, staying far in the shadows and behind trees. When she opened the door to the hotel i pulled myself up into one of the trees outside her window.

After a minute or two she walked into her room, that other girl following close behind her. I frowned. I didn't like her but, i knew what she meant to Candy and it would be a bad idea if i tried to get rid of her.

They talked for a while before the girl left the room to go to her own. Candice got under the covers and turned to the window.

I pulled myself back a little and saw her smile faintly before rolling over and facing away from me.

I waited a few seconds to make sure she was asleep before jumping to her window ledge. I pulled it open and hopped down off the sill. I stared at her while she slept. She was so beautiful.

I sighed. I wanted to hold her, know what she felt like in my arms. But, i couldn't. Probably never would.

I was playing with a strand of her hair when i heard a noise on the other side of her door. I growled at the disturbance and pulled myself back out of the window just as her friend walked in to grab something.

I glared at her from my spot in the tree and almost wished i could scare her by showing her my face at the window but, i knew she would tell Candice and i didn't want that.

While i would happily kill or frighten anyone, i absolutely did not want to scare Candy and i knew if she saw me... she would surely hate me...
