(Candice's POV)

I sighed and slumped against a tree. "I give up. I just can't do it. I'm not like you."

Jeff chuckled. "That has nothing to do with it, you know. You just don't want to show me your violent side."

"Jeff. I cannot kill another human being. I can try all I want but, it'll never happen. I'm just too nice." I said.

Me and Jeff had worked out our problems and decided to stay together. He told me I was kind of a wanted criminal now since he broke me out and killed a bunch of people. I scolded him.

So that meant I couldn't go home. Jeff offered to look after me and, having no other option, I agreed. We'd been living together in the woods for about two weeks now.

He was trying to teach me how to kill like him but, I was just not strong enough. I couldn't put my feeling aside to kill someone. Jeff even tried to get me to imagine them as my worst bully. Unfortunately, I just wasn't cut out for it.

He sighed. "I went and got him for nothing then?"

We both looked down at the guy Jeff had under his foot. "I guess so. Just let him go. I'll try again some other time."

Jeff frowned as the guy started pleading again. "Ugh, he's so annoying. Can't I just kill him?"

I shrugged. "Do what you want. I feel a headache coming on though so don't make it loud."

I turned away but, Jeff said, "Hey, wait for a minute. Come here."

I sighed but, turned around and came to stand next to him. "What do you-"

He ignored me and grabbed my hand. "Kneel down."

I didn't understand what he wanted but, I did as I was told and nelt down. He took his knife and put it in my hand. "Jeff, I just told you. I can't do this."

He smiled at me and kissed my cheek. "I know. I'm going to help you."

As he said this his hand wrapped around my own and moved the blade over the man's heart. The guy immediately started to protest. "Wait! Please! I'll give you anything you want! Please-!"

Jeff helped my hand thrust the sharp knife though the man's clothes then his skin and finally reaching down to slice right through his heart.

I tensed up a bit as the blood poured out onto my hand. I'd seen Jeff come home several time with blood coating his clothing and hands but, I'd never had it on me before. It was warm and a little sticky.

Jeff smiled. "See? You just needed a little help."

I couldn't pull my eyes away from the knife and I just stared at it. A shiver ran down my spine thinking about what I'd just done. Jeff pulled my hand from the blade and kissed each finger. "How did it feel?"

I glanced at him and offered a shaky shrug. "It w-was okay..."

He grinned. "Was it fun?"

I shot him a glare. "No, it was not 'fun'! Unlike you, I still own a bit of my sanity."

He chuckled and picked me up. "Come on. I swiped his wallet and we can go buy some dinner. I'll get you ice cream as a congratulations dessert."

I squirmed. "A congratulations for what? I didn't anything."

"You still did good. I'm sure anyone else in your position would have had a panic attack." He kicked open the door to our stolen cabin and walked across the living room.

I expected him to put me down but, he continued carrying me until we reached our bedroom. He dropped me onto the bed and crawled on top of me. "I think you did great." He whispered.

I shivered. "I thought you said you were going to get dinner..."

He smirked and leaned down to my ear. "But, you want me to wait and stay here with you, right?"

I watched Jeff sleep next to me and smiled. He always looked the happiest when he slept. It made me wonder what he was dreaming about.

A cold blast of air ran through the room and I pulled the covers up over me. Unfortunately, I remained cold and after several minutes I got up to check if the heater was broken.

I grabbed my robe and wrapped myself up before going to look in the basement. I opened the front door and winced as the cold night air blew though me.

I put my head down and made my way around the side of the cabin. Hurrying inside, I slammed the door and shivered. "Jeez, it's cold."

I checked the heater and found it had been turned off by mistake. I quickly turned it back on again. I glanced at the door and frowned. I didn't want to go back out in the cold yet.

I decided to wait for the heater to warm up and looked around the dim room. It wasn't as cold anymore and the light was bright enough that I could see most of what was in there.

I saw a old torn up mattress and some clothes laying in the corner. There were some boxes too. I walked over and started looking through them. I wondered who the person was who had lived here before.

I pulled out a framed picture of a group of people, all smiling and laughing. I smiled. They all looked so happy. I noticed a group of three kids all sitting at the front. Two were little girls and one was a little boy.

It reminded me of something but, I couldn't put my finger on it. Then J.J.'s smiling face flashed through my head and my smile vanished.

I hadn't seen her since the last time she'd visited me in the hospital. I remembered Brandon as well and I felt a sense of guilt having not told them where I was. Especially Brandon since he'd been my boyfriend.

I leaned against the wall and stared at the ground. I needed to see them. They must be worried and I kind of owed J.J. She was my best friend after all.

I decide to see try and see them in the morning. The sooner the better. I put the picture back in the box and hurried out of the basement.

The house had warmed up quite a bit and I was relieved to be able to crawl back into warm covers. Just as I got settle a voice asked, "Where did you go?"

I glanced at Jeff and shrugged. "It was cold. I went and fixed the heater."

His eyes looked moist and I frowned. "Jeff? Are you okay?"

He rolled over so I couldn't see him. "I'm fine..."

I put my hand on his shoulder. "Jeff, whats wrong."

He didn't speak for a minute but, when he did he surprised me. "I thought you left..."

I looked at him and smiled. "But, I didn't. You don't need to cry, okay?"

He huffed and pulled the blanket over his head. "I'm not crying..."

I chuckled and snuggled up behind him. "Of course not, Jeff." I waited a few seconds before I said quietly, "I love you."

He stiffened then rolled over. "I... Love you too."
