tw: kidnapping, abuse, attempted rape.

Years before my nightmare came back.

It was May 19 20xx, two days after my parent's 6th death anniversary. I remember going back to the cemetery for the last time before me and my aunt's family migrate to the states. I wore my denim overalls that my mom embroidered Winnie the Pooh at the front pockets of it. She loves Winnie to the point that she almost named me that but good thing Dad stopped her wild plans. Mom wanted me to wear this on my first day of highschool but I don't think I would able to wear it because this would be tight on me by the time comes. I was twelve years old and had no idea what was about to happen to me that day.

That afternoon I just sat on the grass staring at their tombstones, talking to them like they were still alive. I had a habit of playing with the pendant of my necklace, that my dad gave me, everytime I'm sad or nervous. That time I was sad because I don't know if I'll ever visit them again in the future. I might have stayed the night there if gray spots didn't started to appear on their tombstones. "I guess it's time for me to go now, Mom, Dad. Love you." I whispered and dusted off the grass on the bottoms of my denim overalls as rain started to pour heavier.

That's when things started going downhill for me.

If there was a mistake in my life, or any regret that I wished I didn't do was to take the shortcut way back to my aunt's house. That small decision could've changed the ripples of my life.

The thought haunts me every night. "What if I just took the main lane? I could've avoided anything from happening. I don't care if I was gonna get scolded by my aunt, I could've, I could've lived happier."

The shortcut was a famous spot for hiking but not a lot people went back there eversince my aunt bought the land. She said she hated the hikers leaving trash so she decided to buy it. Although the walk back home would only take three to four minutes it took me almost ten minutes walking not even reaching half way of the track. The place was already covered in twigs and bushes after a year of being bought by my aunt. The road became muddy as well which made it harder for me to walk faster. I know I should've taken the long way it would have been easier but the rain is pounding very hard and I'm left with the only choice to continue. Afterall, I was just a clueless idiot.

When I saw the "twin" pine tree, I was relieved knowing that my aunt's backyard gate was eight steps away. It was called a twin pine tree after it was struck by a lightning which tore it half but strangely or rather miraculously it didn't perish but continued to grow at both sides. Kind of reminded me of my split ends to be honest.

But because of the tumbling rain I wasn't aware that someone was already following me. It happened very fast that I think I skipped a day of my life. All it takes was to put a sack around my head and bang me into the ground and that's it. Next thing I knew I was in some sort of a barn with only my shirt and underwear on. The rain didn't bother to falter.

I looked around in the darkness looking for my precious overalls but I couldn't see anything. So I tried crawling around while rummaging on the ground full of hay until my palm pierced onto something sharp, I couldn't help but cry.

My palm hurts that I could sense blood running down my fingers it scared me that my palm won't be the only thing that's bleeding if he kills me. He probably heard me so he decided to walk inside only to find him holding my overalls like a handkerchief on his nose. It disgusted me.

"Hey princess.." a bald man crouched down reaching for me. I leaned away from him; an obvious response to someone who just kidnapped you.

"NO! No no it's fine don't be afraid." He started to whisper like a docile prey when obviously he was a predator, worst than a wolf that I've read in storybooks.

He reached again, this time I was frozen in horror when lightning reflected on to something, an axe.

Somehow, amidst the fear I managed to scan my eyes around and saw a ladder with an open window beside it. I started to process a plan in my head thanks to the adrenaline that's crushing me.

But since I was so invested in finding a way to escape I forgot that he was about to touch me. So when his rigid hands made contact with my cheecks I flinched.

He started sniffing my hair, his breathing heavy. He sniffed my neck and licked it and I cried helplessly. And what I feared the most is when he started fondling the straps of my underwear.

But would you believe me if I tell you I heard a woman's voice whispering in my ear.

And somehow the sharp object was in between my fingers. I picked my shit up and just fought. I was supposed to slice his eye but he looked towards my hand that it redirected to his nosebridge, I could hear it cut through his skin.

"ARRGHH!!" He screamed in pain and surprise. I kicked his chest and quickly ran to the ladder and just dashes through the window falling directly into some hay bale. The fall must be higher than I think but the will to live sparked my soul.

The only disadvantage I have is that the place is very unfamiliar to me. So when I ran towards the wire fence he came out of nowhere. He was bigger than me that time so he easily got me.

"Ugh!! LET ME GO! HELP!!" I shouted in the middle of the storm in that isolated area.

"YOU BITCH!" He lost his shit and threw me straight against the wall of the barn. That hurt a lot that I couldn't move and just got paralyzed for two seconds.

When he was about to carry me, I bit his arm very hard that it gave me a rusty aftertaste when I ran outside the fence.

As I ran I cried a lot. I kept thinking about my overalls that my mom designed just for me. I kept thinking about my brother Eunsang. What if he's waiting for me? What if he's crying right now.

"YA! DON'T YOU EVER JUMP!!" Someone screamed behind me and that's when I realized there was a cliff right infront of me. I didn't even notice because it was raining very hard and it was dark as hell.

I gulped as I looked down at the aggressive flowing current of the lake that must have been caused by the storm. I looked behind and saw him sprinting about a yard away from me. With no other choices I jumped, raindrops slapping against my cheeks and then I plunge under the water. The last thing I saw that night was grey and black with a lot of bubbles rushing from my face. The moonlight danced underneath the waters and I started to feel drowsy hearing the words that was remembering the words whispered to me earlier.

"Hunnybear, live for us."
