8. just fought a monster, feeling good

Deuce, polite as ever, knocked on the door.

"Good evening! Is anybody there?...Doesn't really look like anyone's taking care of the place."

"Puh puth! There's spiderwebs in my face!"

Yuu helped their son clean his face off before standing up to look around the old house. Everything was weirdly small.

"The tables and chairs are tiny, as if they're for children." Ace observed. "One..two..seven!?"

"This house was more flourishing when it was up and running." Deuce put his hand down on a table. When he lifted it up, his whole palm was covered in dust.

"Well, there's not much we can do in here. Let's just get to the caves. Time's a'wasting." Yuu walked out, the other three following suit.

"Oh god, this is worse than the house."

The mine was dark. Nay, it was worse than dark. It was a void of utter black. Maybe Crowley did send them on a death trip. Yuu didn't know how they were going to find one tiny magic stone in a giant cave. Was this secretly some form of execution?

"We're supposed to go in t h a t?" Grim asked, sharing the same sentiment.

Ace took this opportunity to poke fun at Grim."Awww, are you afraid? Coward."

"What? No I'm not! I'll be the leader! Everyone, follow me!"

They stepped into the cave. Colorful gems were scattered all over the walls, yet so far none of them looked like the stone they were looking for. Deuce suddenly stopped everyone in their tracks.

"What is it?"

"I hear someone."

Out flew two ghosts, similar to the ones Yuu met in Ramshackle.

"Hehehehehe! We haven't had guests in ten years! Why don't you settle down here...forever!"

"Ah shit, here we go again."

Screaming, our protagonist and their crew ran deeper inside the cave, Ace and Deuce shooting at the ghosts with magic.

"Huff...huff... I didn't know there were ghosts here too!"

Ace slowed down a little to catch his breath once they lost the ghosts.

"They won't go away if we keep entertaining them. Come on, we got to keep moving!"

"How about you stop acting all high and mighty and bossing me around! We wouldn't be in this mess if you weren't such an idiot."

Is this really the time?

"You're the one that started it because you skipped cleaning duty!" Deuce argued back.

"First of all, it was the furball that burned the statue!"

Grim joined the scuffle. " That was because you were making fun of me!"

"You guys, cut it out-"
