izuku had two best friends; of course, there was Katsuki, but that was his human best friend, and Katsuki was sometimes a little much, especially with this emo phase he had going on. He liked listening to loud music and wearing band t-shirts and eyeliner. Izuku had tried using eyeliner too, but he ended up stabbing his eye with it, and it wasn't fun. But he did have another best friend, his shorthair cat Peanuts.
Peanuts had been his birthday present many years back, and he loved the cat to death. She would always come and curl up on his stomach in the mornings, and Izuku would spend hours playing with her. She never judged him or thought he was any less capable than someone with a quirk or who could walk.
For years he had spent every day with her, and he enjoyed that time. izuku loved his cat. He smiled happily as he sat on the couch, scratching behind her ears as he listens to the gentle purr that always calmed her down. That's when he heard the doorbell ring, and he hummed as he walked to the door opening it to see there was a package, so he did the only reasonable thing, and he signed it.
It had happened so fast that he had expected it, his cat started out the door in past him and out of the house, the green-haired boy stood there with wide eyes, of course sometimes she had gotten out. Still, they were quick to put her back inside; she wasn't chipped, of course, she had a collar, and it had a number on it, but they were dangerous things out there, cars, dogs... " Peanuts!" He yelled as the delivery man scratched his head, and Izuku started wobbling after the cat leaving the door open in the process.
" God Peanuts, where are you?" He asks before he ran into Hizashi, who had been on his way inside. " papa Peanuts got out!" He says as he looked at the blond-haired man, and he began to tear up. This always happened whenever something troubled him. He started to cry. Hizashi looks at him, and he sighed.
" Don't worry, little listener, we can find her... let's see, she probably hasn't gotten too far; how about we go inside and call the pound to tell them to watch out for her and give us a call if they find her? And we can look, but she will probably come back by tonight," he says, and Izuku nodded as he was lead back inside.
Peanuts did not come back that night or the next day, and the green-haired boy was getting even more worried as time went on. That's why one morning on a Saturday, he packed up a little backpack. He held a bunch of missing cat posters that he was going to go put up everywhere; he hadn't told anyone about this, but he had said he was going off for the day; he was 13 years old, and his parents trusted him not to do anything stupid. He knew his way around the city and how to get back home too.
About two hours into putting up posters, he sat down on a bench he put his face in his hands. He grumbled a little bit; where could she be? She was his best friend, so why did she leave him, so he had to have hope, his cat would come back, or he would find her, she had a collar on so people knew that somebody owned her, he had to have hope. He looked up and then he saw it, there was a boy crouched down petting something that looked to be orange, could it be his one-eyed orange cat?
He hobbled over, and he looked over the stranger's shoulder only to be disappointed. Yes, this was an orange cat, but it had two eyes. " excuse me..." he murmurs, " have you seen an orange cat with one eye?" He asks, and the boy looks over at him. He had a scar on his eye and red and white hair...what this was a Todoroki! " ah, Todoroki-Kun!" He says as he steps back a bit, and he bows his head apologetically " I'm sorry, you must be really busy," he says, turning to leave.
" No...my father is having a meeting nearby..." he murmurs as he looks at the boy. " have you lost your cat?" He asks, and Izuku nodded. " my father says that pets are useless, they are nothing but a waste of space...but I like cats..." he murmurs. Izuku knew todoroki didn't have many friends...his fathers spoke of his father with disdain.
" would you like to help me look for my cat?" He asks, and Shoto nodded his head, and Izuku smiled a bit " thank you. Two sets of eyes will help," he says
" I'm blind in one eye."
" then three eyes are better than two," he says as he took the boy's hand and he walked down the street; Todorki didn't talk a lot, he more followed than anything, and he would nod or shake his head when izuku asked about different things in his life. To be honest, Izuku felt bad for him; they were sim makers in a way...so Izuku wanted to be his friend.
" I'm Izuku Midoriya, by the way; I've seen you around UA sometimes, my dads are teachers there," he says " um, I'm sorry about your brother," he murmurs, and Todoroki nodded his head, glancing away.
" he's dead, so..." he murmurs, but he paused, stopping the other boy from walking further, and he pointed across the street to an orange cat who was licking themselves.
" Peanuts!" He says, letting go of Todorki's hand, and he ran across the street but his foot caught, and he tripped, he couldn't get up easily, and this was an issue as he heard the sound of wheels screeching against the pavement, and he shut his eyes tightly preparing for the worst but that never came.
He opened his eyes to see a wall of ice around him and the car that had swerved away, and he looked over to see todoroki looking at him with concern. " Todorki," he sobbed out, and he stumbled over to his cat, picking her up, and he made his way back to the red and white-haired boy wrapping his arms around the boy in a hug, Though the other stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
" Don't run into moving traffic," was all the boy said.
Izuku did not get out of this with no trouble. His fathers were beyond mad at him for the stupid decision of running in the street; he had almost died, after all, he was banned from watching any TV for a month, and he had to miss the All might documentary on TV, which was very upsetting.
But he had his best friend back, and that was all that matters.
