Avalee's POV

The room was mostly quiet except for the sounds of our ragged breathing and my choked sobs that threatened to become louder. Nikolai's icy blue eyes stayed on me, satisfaction clear in his expression as he observed my fragile state.

Everything was starting to make sense after I learned his true name. Nikolai Amelin. He had a relation to Tatiana, the person who had executed the most heinous act of betrayal against my family resulting in my kidnapping. The relation still wasn't clear to me, but I was finally getting some answers.

"Tatiana," I muttered. I raised my gaze to Nikolai and repeated it a bit louder. "Tatiana. You're related to Tatiana."

Nikolai chuckled as he nodded his head. "I guess you're not as stupid as my uncle claimed you were. Yes, she was my sister."

I stood up from the ground and towards Nikolai, ignoring the worried looks my friends and girlfriend were casting towards me. "Then, I'm sure you know this, but she was a bitch."

Nikolai gripped my arms and slammed me against the wall, anger radiating off of him as he clenched his jaw and tightened his hold on me. My friends tried rushing towards me, but the men pointed their guns at them, stopping my friends before they could reach me.

"Sir," one of the men said. "Remember what the Boss said. We can't leave any visible marks on them. If their families notice, then the plan will be ruined."

Nikolai slammed his fist against the wall by my head, causing me to flinch. Leaning towards my ear, he whispered, "You're lucky we need you, but once we're done with you, I will kill you. You deserve it after what you did to me and my family."

Pulling the gun out of his waistband, Nikolai waved it towards a room further inside the house and said, "Walk. All six of you."

I walked towards my friends, and Arya quickly wrapped her arms around me, kissing my cheek. "I'm so sorry, baby. This is all my fault," she said.

"Don't say that. This isn't your fault," I said.

With Arya keeping her arm around my waist, the six of us walked to a room that had a torn up couch with two old armchairs on either side of it. On the wall opposite the couch was a TV with a small stand underneath.

"Sit down," Nikolai said.

The six of us squished together on the couch with barely any room in between us. Cara, who was sitting on the other side of me, leaned towards me and whispered, "Who's Tatiana?"

"Demetri's niece," I whispered back. "She dated Elijah and helped Demetri kidnap me last year. She's dead."

"So we're dealing with a crazy guy who wants revenge," she groaned. "That's fucking amazing."

I nodded my head, turning my attention towards Hunter who was standing in a corner of the room, sending me a small smile when he caught my eye. Nikolai walked towards the TV and faced us, that smug grin never leaving his face.

"So," he said, clasping his hands together. "First things first, give your phones to Matthew over there."

One of Nikolai's men stepped forward holding a small bin in his hand. His entire body covered in tattoos, but the most prominent one was the one on his neck peeking out from his shirt collar, the one that every member of the Russian Mafia received to identify themselves.

"We're not—"

Jamal stopped midsentence upon seeing the men raise their guns at him, gulping at the sight. "Fine," he muttered. "But only because I'm not interested in dying right now."
