Infected

2037 (1 day later after the black Vultures attack)

We haven't been back home since the wedding. Thank Christ I brought the diary along. I just wish things went back to the way they were when we all didn't need to worry about getting bitten by a screwed-up creature, to then turn into one yourself... IT'S MESSED UP!

The virus itself though, I admit, is interesting. Though our buddy Sam, he always has something new to tell us at dinner, but most of us are all sick of it at this point because it's now in our everyday life and of course, some of us just need an escape.

Ever since the world fell into chaos four years ago, "The Eclipse" rose to power. Hector Reed, the great and powerful man that bred life into the extinct woolly mammoth, sabretooth tiger, and prehistoric dire wolves. I myself remember going to see them at the zoos in the city. He was there in his black and red tuxedo, waving to the fans as if he was some celebrity, with the creature's people haven't seen for thousands of years, stood there in its cage alive once again, now everyone knows him as the man that destroyed the world.

With the help of his brother Victor, of course, everyone knew it, hopefully, me writing down these names enough times so when you people read it, you can have it embedded into your mind that these two brothers single-handedly wiped-out 85% of the human population!!!!

86 I think. Who cares?! All my novel readers from the future need to know is that these two brothers are bad bro... BAD!

While Hector was off making a name for himself creating monster abominations in a lab or something and bringing back extinct species for profit and entertainment, Victor developed a way to manipulate the weather around us, bringing an end to natural disasters. By 2033, the satellites were shot up into space and it was awesome at first, but finally, the US government took interest and made the brothers' science project worldwide. Then Russia, France, and China wanted a piece of it too.

Finally, one thing that led to another was mother nature fighting back, and you know what they say... "mother nature always wins." And with that, it was the ending of Earth's beautiful landscapes and bringing forth the monster-infested frozen wasteland...

"Damn, that's good; Infested frozen wasteland, what do you think guys?" A young man lifted his head up and straightened his back, looking from his book to the driver's seat, where his older brother was driving. The sudden change of light made his eyes adjust. The older brother had large arms, short brown hair, a nicely trimmed beard, and his eyes matched the blue of his shirt. He wore a heavy brown winter coat that sat on his lap like a blanket with melting snow still visible on the material.

"Hey Adam. I'd go for maybe a frozen infested wasteland title because snow is the first thing you see, but it's your book, diary, journal, whatever mate," the older brother said, his eyes darting back quickly to the straight empty road, seeing nothing ahead for miles.

"I guess so," Adam replied softly as he looked down at his diary to think.

The travel was always bumpy and rough. It always took a moment for his eyes to meet with the words on the pages clearly. His head swayed side to side softly as the wheels of their vehicle turned over the cold gravel stones at high speeds down the empty country road. Adam himself was young, long brown hair tied up at the back, facial hair slowly starting. He wore his dark leather jacket with straps going across his chest like an X, jeans, sidearm pistol holstered on his thigh, and bulky black boots.

"Why don't you just put the book down and actually catch some Z's? Gonna need them," a voice said to his right.

Adam turned his head slowly to meet his friend that joined him in the back seat. His body was stretched out, taking up most of the room. His boots nudged Adam's thighs, sometimes kicking him. Legs shielded the boy's face from his view. The boy wore almost everything black, black jeans, black jacket, t-shirt, and of course he had long slick black hair.
