Kate and Defender kept on trudging to Kings Palace. Their feet felt like they should fall off, and excruciating pain shot through Kate's muscles. Day and night, they kept walking and walking. Finally at daybreak, they arrived at his castle.
It was gold, with red brick every here and there. Little watch windows were placed around the building. It had little balconies around on all four corners. They approached on a red brick road. They came to the drawstring door.
"There is a riddle that we must answer. It is always very, very, VERY simple."Defender said, looking down at Kate. As if on cue, a loud voice came booming from inside the castle.
"What is black and white but read all over?"
Kate responded, "A newspaper. That riddle is so old!" The wooden door came crashing down, almost crushing them. Defender pushed Kate along through the doorway. The inside was just as elegant as the outside. In the entrance hall, there was portraits of King everywhere. She looked down and they were standing on a marble flooring. Hanging from the ceiling, there was a giant glass chandelier.
He kept pushing Kate along down the long winding hallway. They stopped at a gold door. "Knock on it dear." So Kate did as she was told. She knocked three times and on the third the door flew open.In the farmost wall, sat a huge throne. Kate thought there was no one sitting on it. Her eyes wandered for a minute until her eyes landed on a little lump. Her eyes focused and she found it was a man. A tiny, little man. He was a short, stubby, man. He had a long, pointy nose. His head had barely any hair, but of the hair he had it was a light brown. He jumped off the humungus throne and hobbled over to Kate. He took her hand and kissed it. Defender cleared his thoat.
"Oh! Yes I will get on with it. My name is King. The... how do I put this. Ruler of Defendrall."
"Nice to meet you. Im-' she got cut off by King.
"Kate. I Know."
"Umm... yes. Sorry if I sound rude, but will you explain what I'm doing in Defendrall?"
"Ahh, yes. Impatient miinds of children." He muttered under his breath."You are here to go on a journey."
"Journey? What are you talking about? I think you have the wrong person." She exclaimed.
"I assure you we have the right person. Now Kate, please sit sown..." Defender said as the servants got them tea as they discussed this journey.
