Spinning. The world was spinning. Spinning out of control. Kate tried to find a center point, something still to look at. But it gave her a headache so she stopped and closed her eyes instead. The dizziness went down, but only for a brief amount of time. Is she dying? Is this what dying felt like? She couldn't tell. Part of her wanted to die. She could let other people deal with this dilemma. The fight would be over and she could finally rest in peace. But part of her wanted to keep fighting. She didn't want other people battling her fights. She wanted to be the one to be there for her mother, to save her.
And that's exactly what she would do.
Opening her eyes she found that the world was no longer spinning, but filling up with water, very fast. She tried to move her arms and legs, but they wouldn't move. Its like she was frozen in time or something. The water was now up to her waist. She tried screaming for help, but found that her face was frozen. The only thing that she could move, was her eyes. That would do her no good. With the water up to her chin, She knew she had to act fast. The water quickly got to her bottom lip, and she took one last breath, before the water completely submerged her whole body. The sound of running water stopped, and the ringing sound of silence filled her ears. The only thing she could think of was air. Nice, clean, fresh air. She had never realized how much everything needed it. She always had taken it for granted, and now she wished she hadn't. She once again tried swimming up to what should be the surface, but found she still couldn't move. She couldn't tell if she was falling down, deeper into the endless abyss, or if she stayed where she was the whole time. Her mouth soon unfroze and she opened it, trying to yell for help, but instead getting a mouthful of water. Then in that moment, her whole body unfroze and she instantly tried to swim upwards, but was too exhausted to keep going. She was ashamed with herself. This isn't how she wanted to die. Flailing her arms like a child, lying in the middle of nowhere struggling to breath, while leaving new friends and family behind. Its not how her mother would have wanted her to die. Its not how she wanted to die either, but she couldn't do anything about it. Living seemed hopeless right now. There was only one thing she was living for. One thing she cared about. One thing she wanted to get too. But no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get there. And just like that, deep in thought, the darkness engulfed her again as she closed her eyes, hoping for the best.
