A Race Against Time

Caught At Last

-Kate's hopes shattered to the ground.- A police siren was going off somewhere behind her and all she could think was get the pocket watch and run. Run as fast as my legs will carry me. She knocked out J.R Green, which didn't take much considering he had lost a lot of blood,and dug through his pockets. She hesitated as she found his wallet, stashed with money. Should she take it? Should she leave it? It would be stealing, but she had stolen stuff before. So she took his wallet and the watch. She sprinted down the street, pushing and shoving people as she scurried down the road. She could care less as people sweared at her. She heard the police yell out, "Stop! Stop right there and put your hands above your head!" She saw the citizens nervously get out of the way, making the police catch up really fast. She dug around in her bag, found her gun, and shot straight in the air. That cleared her way so she sprinted as fast she could, but, to her dismay it also cleared the way behind her, and the police were hot on her tail. The officer yelled" Kate! You can't run from this! I can help you understand! I once had the watch in my possession! It finds it's owner on it's own! It destroyed a man with power! But we could use it for good!" She turned down a road, and crashed into a police car. She stumbled to the ground. She was so angry she beat up the officer who was chasing her. After many failed attempts, The officer wriggled out from under her fist and tased her.

*In the hospital*

Kate woke up feeling groggy. she sat up and a wave of nausea shot up her stomach. She quickly laid back down. She looked at her knuckles. They had marks and she could tell they had been bleeding badly. She had remembered what the officer had told her, about the watch. She was starting to believe all these crazy people. She wondered if they were both true about the watch. Was it really enchanted? She started to feel dizzy and thats when she blanked out.
