Mona
I look at myself in the mirror. My face of makeup feels somewhat intimidating. But I feel beautiful. And the smell of my mother is warming my soul, melting my anxiety away and making me feel safe and ready.
I thought I'd be very nervous, especially considering what Salvador said, but I'm not. I'm just content, I'm happy.
Someone knocks on the door.
"Come in."
It's Filomena. She smiles at me in the mirror and closes the door behind her.
"You look gorgeous." She mutters. I really don't want her here right now.
"What is it?" I ask blatantly and she squints at me for a second.
"I just wanted to get a look at you. I see you are not wearing the necklace I gave you."
I sigh and someone else knocks at the door. "Yes. Come in." I say, quite frustrated.
"It's time Mona." My father says and I smile at him.
"Coming."
He leaves and Filomena looks at me with a face of hollow desperation. "Please wear it. It would mean the world."
I roll my eyes at her silly remarks. I just adjust my veil and reach for my bouquet.
"Please Mona." She says before I'm about to leave. And in a fit of stress and just wanting to leave I agree with her.
"Fine." I say, very annoyed, and reach for it spread across a table in the room. She puts it on for me. I don't smile at her, I look at her with cold dark eyes.
"Happy?" I ask, infuriated.
"Very." She whispers and leaves before me.
Now once again all I can think about is marrying Salvador. That's all that matters today. That's the only thing I care about.
My father greets me happily. "You smell just like her. You're just like her." He says, his voice breaking. I wipe the tear that falls from his face.
"I wish she was here to see how beautiful you turned out to be."
"She is here." I whisper to him and he smiles with sad eyes.
He puts the veil over me and I hold onto his big arm.
"Grazie papá." I mutter.
"For what?"
"Everything."
The music starts, we walk down the aisle. I hear various whispering and gasping, but all I can focus on, all I can see, although the veil makes it fogged and mystical, is my gorgeous Salvador. Smiling at me uncontrollably with his hands behind his back. He looks so incredibly handsome. His suit tightly accentuates his strong, muscular figure. I bet all the women here are jealous of me, I wouldn't be surprised, look at him.
I look at him and my heart just melts. He is the sweetest, sexiest person I've ever known. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
