Two states sat directly across from each other at their dinning room table. Their different colored noses were stuck in two very large books. They tossed the pages quickly to the side while the rest of their siblings watched and whispered amongst themselves.

Hawaii climbed onto the table and flipped her hair to the side. She looked back and forth between the two brothers.

New York threw his book down triumphantly and smirked at California. "Done!"

Hawaii shouted to the crowd besides the table, "New York wins the bet!"

California groaned and hid his face into the giant book he was almost finished reading. "You suck, New York."

New York abruptly pushed himself up and out of the chair he was sitting on. "Yeah, yeah, whatever loser. Give me my prize." He held his navy blue hand out expectantly in front of California's pearl white face.

California sighed and gave up his dog tag that America gave him for his 169th birthday. "I don't understand your obsession with these things." The golden state stood up with a frown and walked away from New York's annoying smirk.

"You don't need to." New York slipped the dog tag on and admired its cool, metallic appearance. He barely paid any attention to California storming up the stairs.

The kind hearted Washington lumbered upstairs after California. He ran to catch up with him with a tender smile. "Don't worry, Cali! You will get him next time." He causally slipped another dog tag into California's semi-closed fist.

The tall Californian stopped in his tracks and looked at the sliver metal. "What's this?" He studied the engravings that were already very familiar to him.

Washington smiled and leaned against the wall. "I made a copy for you just in case things went South." A grin grew on his dull green lips. He knew how much that dog tag meant to California, so he was already certain he would be receiving a hug sometime soon.

California wrapped his fingers around the cool metal and smiled brighter than the sun himself.

(Plant humans reference, I think, yes)

The golden state ran towards his brother and wrapped him into a back-breaking hug. "Thank you so much, Ton!" He picked the smaller state up and swung him around. "You're the best! The absolute best!" He kissed his younger brother's head and beamed at the other.

"You... are... killing... me." Washington squeaked while trying to catch his breath. Sometimes he forgot how strong California could be. His brother's strength hid in California's tall and slender frame.

"Oh, sorry." California immediately let go of Washington and stepped away slightly. "It's just... I really appreciate this, Ton. Thank you." A very warm smile coated his face.

Washington felt absolutely fantastic. He just did a great deed after all. He smiled back warmly and lightly punched California's bicep. "What are brothers for?" He shrugged off the vast amount of gratification that California sent his way. He then started to make his way back to the stairwell. "I'll see you around, Cali! I have to go take care of my cherry trees!" He yelled out while making his way down the wide, carpeted stairs.

"Have fun!" California hollered back and started to walk back to his room again, but nearly ran into Oregon. "Oh no..." He sighed and looked down at the little midget.

Oregon lifted up his nose to try to look as impressive as possible. "So I saw you lose to New York today."

"Shut it, beaver teeth. I'm not in the mood to deal with a snotty bi-"
